You said he was out of the rotation for much of the season. He wasn’t.

Unless you mean 5 minutes isn’t significant enough to be a rotation player, in which case the entire #9thman argument falls on its face.
Have I even been a #9thMan argument advocate? I’ve said one of Zens / Williams / Brown should be able to fill those super low responsibilities.

Either way, it’s BARELY in the rotation, if he’s not completely out of it. I see it parallel to Dra Gibbs Lawhorn freshman season.

DGL in 4 tournament games:

10 minutes
8 minutes
6 minutes
9 minutes

Reibe in 6 tournament games:

5 minutes
11 minutes
7 monutes
7 minutes
5 minutes
5 minutes

Perhaps in the regular season Reibe played a little more, but it’s moot.

Where do they find a hill like that in Champaign?

I mean no matter which side of the #9thman debate we are on, if someone plays in all 40 games and never plays less than 5 minutes in ANY of those 40 games, I think its crazy difficult to argue he isn't "in the rotation". Even if you are playing 5 minutes, its because you are being rotated in to play. None of these games we are talking about were blowouts. I do not see how this is arguable. He averaged 14 minutes per game, he was most certainly a rotation player.

Reibe played 552 minutes, DGL played 200 minutes

Reibe had zero DNPs, DGL had 10 DNPs

I don't think it will "turn out that way." At least one of the freshman should be better than Jakstys.
That would be nice...and offensively that might prove true. But JJ has the size, athleticism, along with maturity/some limited experience to defensively prove an adequate defender against B1G bigs under 7'. Not sure either the frosh or JJ can become dependable, but we will all hold out the hope that it comes to fruition.

Can someone let me know when this thread stops being highjacked around USCs bench and where their 9th man is in our hypothetical rotation? Ive never seen such intense opinions on maybe the most irrelevant team to our success.

And I hope they’re good - we play them at home and can get a Q1 win.

The AQI went down to moderate today in Chicagoland, you should be outside.

Let’s check in on how a key participant in today’s third place World Cup game feels about playing in a consolation match.

Ok, for this to not be a false equivalent we'd have to pretend that there's not value in the earned FIFA world points for future tournament seeding.

We also have to pretend that we don't see this with college bowl games where even UDFAs opt out of inconsequential bowl games.

Lastly we have to pretend that England and France don't already have all their fans in country and wouldn't play on broken glass to claim victory in a friendly.

We need to do a lot of pretending to make this a valid point.

Or at least on vacation. You should be enjoying some of the airport's finest offerings, sadly no cottage cheese but just about everything else...

Like I said -- BARELY IN the rotation, if you don't think he's completely out of it. (and yes, I'd probably say barely in as well)

I just think it's going to be an adjustment. The guy averaged 6 minutes per game in UCONN's tournament games. And honestly, his regular season minutes are inflated because of the games Reid missed. For example, he played 28 minutes against Arizona, and 31 against Kansas. That would not have happened had Reid played.

It's just different going to the Big Ten, and being the starting center on what many people consider a top 4 team in the league.

But then perhaps if he's not that good... the Ratliff Twins will just beat him out.

His minutes are more comparable to Big Z than DGL.

If you take out the games Reed missed he still averaged well over 12 minutes. Thats not garbage time.

One thing we agree on (I think) is that he isn’t that good. Just another reason I have to believe USC isn’t going to be sitting atop the conference at the end of the season.

Is it just me, or does his anti-Illinois bias only seem obvious online? Maybe I just haven't caught it on TV, but I generally like him on BTN.
Honestly I kind of see what you mean. Until I saw his twitter, I always kind of thought he had some good takes for us, but that could just be me forgetting things he’s been negative about, or just not paying enough attention.
