I'm gonna be real, I just straight up don't believe the narrative that Bielema was committed to moving on from Henry and totally changing the defense, but then just sat on that conviction for two months as the coaching carousel spun in order to avoid having to fire Henry.
That smells to me like the writer's room of Official Insider Lore straining to tie up loose narrative threads for the season finale.

Ash was DC at Arkansas, Ohio State and Texas. He was also HC at Rutgers. He coached in NFL at Jaguars and Raiders. Per Yahoo Sports $48M NIL Per Sideline $58M. Considered right up there with Ohio State, Texas Oregon

Let’s be honest, the lack of talent on the defense has led to this problem. It’s like trying to pay 4 house bills with money for 3. Wait 1 year for bigger score board and get talent for the D and it would have been different! We are playing the hand we’ve have now so get somebody how is good with duct tape and get to a bowl game!
Zero doubt Hauck initiated this. He wanted retirement and went into retired. BB mistakenly tried to get him out of it. Fired and gets a nice fat retirement gift from BB and Illinois.

Besides some espoused Sommelier level olfactory capabilities, what do you have to support your opinion that is contrary to what was on this board from good sources that played out throughout the offseason of 25'-early 26'?
No-one is saying that he was committed to totally changing the defense, what is being said that he adopted the change in defensive scheme due to the coach he decided to hire out of lack of alternatives.
But maybe you have a hotline to Miss Cleo that is still active.
