Illinois 38, Michigan State 37 OT Postgame

Nah cmon. This defense just allowed 31 regular time (with an easy touchdown in OT to add) against the worst offense in the big ten.

It’ll go as a W but you gotta be kidding me if you take away anything positive about this team overall from the game.

That being said massive massive massive props to Clayton. One of the more incredible true freshmen performances I’ve seen from a guy coming cold off the bench with zero pass attempts. He looked real sharp minus the misfire to Trimble. Incredibly happy for him that’s a lifetime memory made.
The positive is we won. I don’t take conference road wins for granted.

In an ironic twist, after getting dog walked all game today, Xavier Scott (aka X Man) made his only solo tackle of the day to save the Illini and stuff MSU's final play for a two point conversion in overtime. Great hit, glad to see him rise to the occasion and secure the Illini win.

NO SUCH THING AS A NORMAL DAY IN EAST LANSING IS THERE

From what I've seen elsewhere, the staff believes Clayton has the better long term upside and is more likely to be the starter next year.

I still have Boyd in high regard as well but even if the QB part isn't in the cards, hopefully he can look at Isaiah Williams as a path he could follow. He's a great athlete (Though I do believe he has much more QB potential than Williams had arm talent wise).

You’re stronger than me. I watched that game and the only W is going in the record book. Which I understand is the whole point, doesn’t change the fact this team looks lost at best.

I’m more big picture on this year and I have yet to see anything that leads me to believe we’ll win anymore than a single game and that’s even severely iffy.

Not an acceptable answer.

Barnett’s two runs were the first two plays of the 2nd Q.

Clayton didn’t come in until almost the end of the 3rd.

Unless Barnett is not capable of pass blocking, there is no reason to keep him on the bench after what he’s shown in his limited opportunities.

We do a poor job of getting players involved in games, even when they show great potential.

Maybe there is something else we’re aware of, but the kid has shown major flashes and then we sit him, it makes no sense.

I will take a W any day. We are still really bad and our coaching is pathetic. I don't know what their thinking this season. You never give ball back to opponent on your own 29. Bonehead. Barnett not playing is mind numbing.

I don't like the result, but your offensive line has to be able to pick up 6 inches for your QB. That's inexcusable. Bret didn't want the game on his defense's hands. Nor would I. Picking up inches would have gone a long way in eliminating that possibility.
