Illinois 38, Michigan State 37 OT Postgame

They have 33 points TOTAL in the last 4 games (including a game against Eastern Michigan) and they scored 37 on us.

There is no logical reason that our defense is so incredibly bad, including the secondary where we actually have talent.

NIL or not, there are teams with much worse talent than us that can stop a few drives without giving up points.

I’m hoping this season is a lot of lessons learned and we do things differently and better in the offseason.

Excited that we won, but we got lucky on the offsides call against MSU on the onside kick. We hardly ever benefit like that.

Our LB's and D-Linemen are of MAC quality. It is what it is. There is no Coordinator in the world that can make that talent competent against P5 competition. Quite honestly, outside of Bailey....they can all be replaced.

If someone could get a message to Lunney in the next two weeks...before our next 4th and inches....that Clayton weighs less than my neighbors 5'7" pregnant wife.

Maybe pour some lead weights down his pants if he insists on calling the dumbest plays known to 4th down in history.

Given how the next few series played out and our turnover on downs, I don't know that MSU getting it there would have changed things

Unless Barnett is not capable of pass blocking, there is no reason to keep him on the bench after what he’s shown in his limited opportunities.

We do a poor job of getting players involved in games, even when they show great potential.

Maybe there is something else we’re aware of, but the kid has shown major flashes and then we sit him, it makes no sense.
The blocking is the only thing I can think of as well. In my opinion, he's been one of the most exciting players on the team.

It was exciting and ugly. It almost seems
Like half of this board would rather lose so they can !!!!! and complain even more than they do after a B1G road W! We have many flaws yet we won. A road win in conference should be celebrated, even against a bad team. But, hey, BB sucks, and we have had many better coaches the past 30 years!

I don't know that they are all MAC. I think a few of them show flashes, but I'm wondering if the coaches haven't taught them the schemes well? Or the scheme isn't intuitive and the players are trying to think about where they need to go instead of running on instinct? Yes, the talent could use an upgrade, but I'm blaming the coaches.

The footwork and tackling issues are a whole other issue that are puzzling since it didn't seem like huge issues last year or I have a short memory.
