Just wanted to say I enjoyed seeing what Illini fans had to say about the matchup, if Illinois does beat the Cyclones, I’ll be pulling for them to win the whole thing. I have no intention of posting on here again unless the Cyclones and Illini meet up down the road in future years. Take care all!
Iowa State has 4 guys that average double figures.
Keshon Gilbert is a UNLV transfer Junior who will take it to the basket hard. He will occasionally knock down a few 3's but doesn't shoot them often. He is a long 6'4" and will probably take quite a bit of time guarding Shannon. (13.7 ppg)...
The officiating has been my biggest concern since the tournament tipped. If it gets officiated like the A&M/Houston game last night, ISU will get boat raced.
I can only speak from my experiences. I don’t remember a ton of Illinois fans growing up in the town I grew up in, but I could have just been oblivious. My wife says that’s a trait of mine. The fans I do know, I respect, in fact I went to HS with Jeremy Werner and I have some friends I have met...
I have found Iowa State fans feel the need to fight for their team. Perceived slights hit harder due to media in our state getting on their knees for the Hawkeyes and Iowa State is overlooked, even though they have arguably been better than Iowa this century.
I agree and have said Illinois’ history is significantly better. I think some are thinking I’m trying to pick fights, but in my mind I’m just trying to provide the other side of the coin. If it’s not coming off like that, I apologize.
And the Texas A&M loss was similar to Illinois loss to Marquette in that a lot of players were learning their roles and learning to play together. Most of the team was new to each other. Iowa State was also missing their center who had started all year to that point (Hason Ward) due to injury...
I guess my question is why 5? Why not 10 or 15?
Or at least only the years the current Iowa State coach has been there. The previous ISU coach ended with 3 out of 4 bad seasons, but Iowa State went from 2-22 with him to a Sweet 16 team with Otz in his first year. Just seems odd to pick a...
Cherry picking the best 5 years of the Underwood era?
I won’t argue ISU total history comes close to touching Illinois because it doesn’t. But since 2010, Iowa State has had more success, other than 1 year we do not speak of.
No on the 3s yes on the D. 305th in the country in 3s attempted per game. Most points are in the paint and in transition off turnovers. Will make teams play patient, and has dictated pace in most games. Generally will run the clock to below 10 while on offense.
Growing up south of the south suburbs of Chicago, I was generally unaware of U of Illinois unless it was an outstanding season. No family connections and I was much more into pro sports. I remember them wheeling in a tv to watch the elite 8 run when I was in JH and of course 2005 when I was in...
Lol. Thats crazy for anyone from Duquesne to talk crap. Duquesne was lucky they weren't on the 13 line and that they played BYU, who is a fine team, but would be a Wisconsin comp. I didnt want ISU to see them because we had them twice and BYU was just a horrible matchup for Iowa State if they...
Baylor is a solid comp to Illinois over the course of the season and Iowa State went 1-1 losing by 2 after a buzzer beater got waived off (correctly) in Waco and winning by 14 in the Big 12 tournament. For the record I think Illinois is playing better now than they have all year, and Iowa State...
