Lol. Just when I was about to rant about that font/styling...
A different rant: why can we never seem to use the same color of orange across platforms? Heck, even using the same color orange just on this uniform would be nice.
I don't think we "sell" Liddell on what LB did here and how he could do the same or better. I think LB is used just as a reference point for "we want you to play inside-out, you'll get a lot of touches, shoot the ball, etc., and the proof we're not exaggerating is last year's PF nearly doubled...
This is true, but I don't think I would qualify Self as a big name college coach (in the vein of the other coaches you mentioned) when he left Illinois for Kansas. He was obviously extremely successful in his short stint at Illinois, but he became a top-tier, big name coach while at Kansas...
What makes you say that? I hear that 2022 would be the absolute earliest that the NBA will consider opening up the draft to high schoolers. Doing it any earlier would cause outrage amongst NBA teams that have traded future draft picks without this knowledge.
??? How is he inherently dislikable? Seems like an overly antagonistic position. He is clearly respected by many of his peers in the profession, and those who knew him in the community know him to be a really good guy. Bash on his recruiting all you want, but don't stoop to baseless insults.
Agreed. Would love to see smaller lineups to close out games, but starting off that way could be rough. We're going to have to "pick our poison" with one of the unproven bigs and hope they can perform better than anticipated.
I guess this is a good example of how one's interpretation depends on one's viewpoint, but I would argue that the rest is context, as your first paragraph somewhat underscores. Our (generally) high expectations for Underwood were based off his previous success as HC at two different programs...
I'm just not sure it's useful to do these comparative analyses between coaching regimes and their recruiting when we're only ~1.5 years into the present one. Recruiting doesn't take place in a vacuum. Ex: Groce's early classes came when our program was down, but not post-Groce era down as...
Fultz was a plus shooter his year at Washington though, a major boon to his draft stock and being the #1 pick.
Fultz is being hugely underrated after a letdown of a season. He's going to be good.
Sounds right to me. Besides Giorgi, each recruit has the length and athleticism to be an impact defender (Griffin could be added to that group). We'll see what actually materializes, and who can use their length to make up for less experience and strength/bulk.
Just because somebody is not starting, or even getting "starter minutes", does not necessarily mean they're not a highly valuable piece of the puzzle or that they weren't worth recruiting.
Also, 20 min a game is not starter minutes, but that's a semantics argument for another day.
