Reminds me of Jason Heyward, another tall, lanky batter. Heyward hurt his wrist in 2016, played through it, but his swing got off, and he never really recovered. Tucker tried to play through his wrist injury, too. He’s been a completely different hitter the last 50-ish games with the Cubs and...

Or maybe just the fact that they’ve been playing at a 100-win pace without a 100-win quality roster, and things are bound to even out a little over the course of a 162-game season. To whit, the Cubs should gain at least a game on them over the rest of the season just based on the two team’s...

Since the St Louis series - 16 games - Bregman has raised his OPS .682 to .759. In those 16 games, he’s hit .388 with 6 HR and 17RBI

To make room for Cabrera and Palencia, I think the first most obvious move is DFA’ing Thielbar. After that, it’s a choice between DFA’ing Thornton who doesn’t have any options remaining or sending Assad down. The safe bet is probably sending Assad down to stay stretched out, with the...

Cubs batters have figured out that you can redeem five unused ABS challenges for a free roast beef sandwich at participating Arby’s. Gonna have quite a party at the end of the year with all them sandwiches.

75% of hit at bats are from the left side.

Brewers won again. At some point you just have to acknowledge the voodoo magic. Figure the Cubs will win 96-97 games and if the Brewers have more, just tip your cap to a team whose second best position player is… uhm… er…. Jake Bauers, I guess.

Gausman added to the roster. Kelly down to Iowa.

You could see just last night that the added depth Zeferjahn brings made a difference. And the point you make about taking it slow with Palencia is important. I could see the Cubs also taking a little extra time to make sure Cabrera is right as well. As good as Assad has been lately, no reason...

If you’re not entertained by Cookie Monster singing the 7th inning stretch, you hate the Cubs, baseball and America, and probably had a rotten childhood.

Alcantara back to Iowa. Woodford DFA’d. The three starting pitchers haven’t been added to the roster yet. Not sure if we’ll Garrett before rosters expand in September. I’m guessing Kelley and Ferguson are the next two to get launched. Choices will get harder when/if people start coming back...

Zeferjahn from the Angels for Mo Baller. Nice bullpen piece with 3 years of team control. Lots of swing and miss stuff. Peripherals suggest his ERA is inflated with a bad defense behind him.

Guy was a top 100 prospect. Had a really good 2023, got hurt in 24, and has been struggling to make his way back since. His AAA number are good, but he’s been shelled in his 2 MLB appearances this year. Looks more like a depth piece than someone who will be a big contributor this year.

Beware the various outlets mis-reporting one of the prospects going back as Tate Southisene (2025 1st round pick for the Braves) versus Ty Southisene (2024 4th round pick for the Cubs). Tate is 19 years old, just got promoted to AA and is on his way to being a top 100 prospect. Ty is 20 and...
