This is the FIRST TIME SINCE 2000 that two Cardinals players have had 27+ RBIs at this point in the season. That was 2000 Edmonds and Tatis. Not Pujols plus Rolen or Holliday plus Beltran—it’s Walker and Burleson.
Ayo’s trade and then his historic playoff game last night reminded me of the Cardinals’ Arozarena trade and his historic playoff run. Except Ayo’s was a lot more fun!
He joins a short list of 4 players to come off the bench with 40+ in a playoff game, of MN players to get 40 in a playoff game, and Illini who have received MVP chants in a playoff game!
STOKED!!! Went to the opening day win and watched ILL win in the Sweet 16 in StL that night. Came home, watched StL win and watched ILL win the Elite 8 game! Here’s hoping StL and ILL keep it up!
I’m actually proud of IN after that performance. It’s like Revenge of the Nerds. And the Alabama SEC broadcast crew just said AL didn’t respect IN because they hadn’t played anyone!
Junior has a bar on Broadway: it’s worth a visit. When I was there earlier this year the band played Family Tradition and All My Rowdy Friends every set (thus prompting me to stay way too long!).
I was at Oxford at Ole Miss a couple of weeks ago in Illini garb and thought I might catch some grief. Instead I was told they love Luke (who’s from Starkville) and like IL by extension, so his mother apparently knows best.
Another long-time lurker here who vowed to come out to respond to a post of yours. I hope you continue to improve and are interviewing many NLs for your recovery!
Our plane out of STL was overbooked today, so hopefully there were too many IL fans. We were going but my wife now has Covid. Oh, well.
Here’s hoping those 2 missing OL for WA makes IL’s containment easier and Luke can win the turnover war. IL 27-24.
