How do you know Underwood wouldn't have hired Walker sans recruits? You act like it's a catastrophe that he's on the staff unless he keeps the class intact. Walker seems like a well-liked and engaging guy. I'm glad he's sticking around either way.
The biggest factor in good team defense is coaching. The past 3-4 Illini squads have been some of the worst defensive teams in the history of the program. This is the most glaring indictment of the staff. Sure we've had some tough recruiting losses and injuries the past few years but if Groce...
Poor coaching is the only excuse for the level of horrible the Illini have achieved on the defensive end. Passable team defense dosent require ubertalent.

@NW - dog
Penn St - favorite
@Iowa - dog
NW - pick 'em...
Not to sound too critical but did you read the post to which you're responding? Shuttlesworth was making a point about the flagging attendance at Assembly Hall and that the poorly attended games played in Springfield aren't taken into account in this year's trend, which would make the number...
Problem being that it's going to be tough sledding for Groce on the recruiting trail for the 2017 class with his perceived lack of job stability. It's a bit of a catch 22.
