How long ago was the first college coach to make more than $5 mil per year. 20 years? As usual the gubmint is 5 days late & several dollars short with solutions to issues.

Playoff bound. I don't expect much due to their shortcomings as we have discussed. But in order to win the tournament, one must first qualify for the tournament.

Small ball doesn't matter....til it really matters in the playoffs. How many at bats did Toronto have in game 7 vs Dodgers last year with fewer than 2 outs & the series winning run on 2nd or 3rd? IIRC it was several. And failed every single time in part cause they couldn't play small ball.

And people forget that about Wrigley. It is the easiest park to hit bombs when the wind blows out. However when the wind blows in it is a near impossibility at times. Really puts an emphasis on playing small ball. Which no one seems to know how to do these days.

He'd fit right in today. RIP

What a moment. That was an absurd shot by Jay Edwards to set it up. Keith Jackson & Dickie V on the call on a Sunday afternoon.

So on the replay of that Anderson shot you are one of the 20 people in the building that can be heard yelling!! What a moment. On the replay there is a split second right as the ball is going thru the net where there is a dead silence in that building such that the TV picks up the sound of the...

Would be nice if Fox would shove some of their A games into that 2:30 slot but I know that conflicts with CBS' time. The game was better when the 2:30 slot was the prime games most weeks.

Or as Gus would say - the "All American Girl Jenny Taft"

That Free Free Free Free Safety blitz is a killer!

How much longer will NBC subject us to Chris Collinsworth on these Sunday night games. That dude is just awful especially when doing a Chiefs game. And don't tell me a league that lets it's major network partner be so slanted to one side in their coverage wouldn't fix games for them if need...

We won't win but I think we cover 27.5. Bert is a solid coach who rarely gets pantsed. I know there is a talent gap but I suspect we will do a little bit on offense to help stay within that margin.

As I think about the Bears season, if the offense truly is as good as it looks like it might be, they may well be able to use that offense to keep their defense off the field for large stretches of games. It's probably against Ben's nature to not juts go pedal to the metal at all times, but if...

I just wiki'd the list of D1 coaches from 1991 and it is primarily a bunch of established "old guys" that were having success. The college game (nor the NFL game) had really embraced the young offensive mastermind type of coach by that point. It wasn't far away but hadn't really arrived yet...

How that could have changed our fortunes. That guy was just a damn good football coach. He coulda at least had a good run at Illinois even if not a program that could challenge the OSU & Michigans of the world.
