Mostly correct, except for Domask didn't play the 10 games at the end of the season. If he would have played 1 game past the midpoint of the season he would have ben denied for that reason alone.
The only snarky remarks I've seen from insiders is when someone comes in all doom and gloom saying well be in the bottom of the big ten and be in the NIT. At that point its open season imo.
Ok maybe b.s was a bit harsh. I don't think the point has no merit. I just feel like that would be the same no matter where he goes. He knows he's not coming here and that's OK. He put in his time, he gave to the program and the program gave to him. I hope he succeeds in his pro dreams.
That sounds like a great narrative, but considering it has been said over and over and over rhat Colehawk and Domask would get their NIL taken care of if they chose to come back and NIL money wouldn't be an issue , makes it more likely other factors were in play.
I thought about that, but if he went somewhere else wouldn't the same thing happen? There would be players there who didn't expect Coleman to be recruited just the same as here. That part, always seemed a bit sketch to me. Sounds good though.
I guess what I don't seem to understand is, let's say Coleman doesn't go pro this year and doesn't play overseas. Why would he choose to go to another school other than Illinois? Would there be something that he would be looking for that he can't get here?
It's more about there are a lot of teams out there and only so many high profile players. A team like illinois who just got 6 players in the portal isn't going to have the money or willingness to pony up 2 million for 1 player, vs a team who has only signed 1 player in the portal with money to...
