This all feels so weird... Recruiting professional players from overseas to come play college basketball in the US. Each year will be a new squad of mercenaries assembled from all parts of the globe.

I'm getting there too. I don't want to overreact, and maybe things will eventually stabilize somewhat, but if this is the "new normal" for college basketball, I definitely don't see myself being as invested 2-3 years from now as I have been in the past.

There is definitely some truth to that, but what happens when the team is mediocre? Fans will no longer have as much of a connection to the players on the team, which makes it a lot easier to sever the connection when things aren't going well. If a team is winning, everything will be great...

Looks like Prof. Gottheil passed away in 2016. I thought his lectures were about as interesting as possible for the subject matter, but not interesting enough to convince me to attend at 8am on a regular basis. When my chair in Foellinger Hall broke and literally collapsed to the floor as I...

I don't think anyone is blaming the players, but more lamenting the system that enables the free-for-all complete turnover of rosters every season. If everyone in the business world was on a 1 year contract that just so happened to line up with the contract period for every other company, that...

The system, as it is, is a mess. It's great that kids are getting paid for their performance, but that is the only thing that is great about it. Outside of that, is the NIL/portal process REALLY in the best interest of the players? It doesn't encourage developing talent, and most players just...

    Champaign-based VPN server?

I live in the Chicago TV market, about 80 miles from Champaign, and I have been toying with the idea of trying to get Champaign local channels. I don't think an OTA antenna is a good option, unless I had the ability to mount a large antenna VERY high, which I don't. I could mount something...

I think it absolutely does. We can play with the big boys financially and no longer have to take a backseat to the "blue blood" programs. I think NIL gives our program a lot more control over recruiting and the opportunity to influence kids who never would have considered us before.

Out of those three, Domask is the only one who outperformed expectations. Harmon had a nice stretch in the early/mid season, but ended up being pretty much what we expected, if not worse. Guerrier was a bit of a disappointment overall. Domask, obviously, was outstanding but other than that I...

Absolutely. I dont envy the job of a college basketball head coach They get paid a lot of money, but having to recruit, re-recruit, and coach at the same time is insane.

He got taken out of the game by the big guy in the middle. He couldn't get to the basket and couldn't get the foul calls.

I don't read it that way. I think he was upset because he cares. What reason does he have to leave? He has been given plenty of opportunities, but he has to learn to shoot. That is on him.

Who is returning? Will DGL stick around? Will Dainja still be here? The guys that are left over will need a LOT of help to be competitive next year.
