The Rocky Long version of the 3-3-5 is aggressive, want to play in the backfield. This is not the Heacock version of the 3-3-5 which is much more passive and wants to tackle you for a 3-yard gain and make you nickel and dime down the field.
I think you'll see them have some guys that rotate...
I have a buddy with a tie to that family.
Not sure where the kid stands. Sounds like his choice.
Mom and Dad want Illinois, love stepp. Leery on NW still given recent hazing issues and Iowa given they don’t throw it much. Not sure on Iowa state or Indiana.
IC has gotten pretty good last 10 or so years, lots of kids on scholarship to go there for football, not sure how many d1 but lots have gone to play in college.
It’s a shame he was never able to put together a consistent big ten level coaching staff.
With his recruiting ability they very easily could have went on a 7-8-9 win run annually through the mid-late 2010’s and elevated the program. Which is what Bret has done.
Hankins was the highest rated of the class at 159.
If this kid ends up progressing and is a top 75 kid, they won’t be able to pay him enough.
Bret is putting what money they have to proven returning starters. Which I agree with. Issue is lack of overall funds.
There are levels to the money...
I could be wrong.
But, I believe since there are no athletic scholarships in the IVY league they don’t sign any sort of binding agreement before they enrolll.
So, he was fair game.
They are running the rocky long version of the 3-3-5 in this film. He’s at the Mike spot. So familiar with the scheme and most likely verbiage. Wonder if there is a coaching link to someone on staff.
Clearly dominates at this level.
Could be your #2 behind Daniel brown at that position.
I doubt it.
Looking at their portal strategy this past year, and what Bret has said in press conferences, they want guys that have played college football and have game reps. They will look for guys that have actually played at the G5 and FCS level.
The two tackles that won 19 games the...
Saw a comment today about wanting to go play for a coach and not a CEO.
Not a very bright comment.
Things go well there, he’s fine.
If they don’t and he has to leave, that will get remembered and will close some doors to him.
Not sure I’ve ever seen an adult wear a backwards hat at a...
Will be interesting to track and see what happens with the top 30 of the class. As always, for a variety of reasons, a chunk are not very productive in college.
I would not be surprised to see 1-2 make their way into the portal after the 2028 season and end up being good players for the Illini...
Bret is strategically not spending for the 2027 recruiting class so that they can keep everyone they want that is currently on the roster. Only so much money, but this is on purpose. Good chance most of the top 50 Players for the 2027 team are on the 2026 team and he doesn’t want to lose them.
Some of these guys may end up being pretty good coaches.
No one knew about Bryant Haines or Mike shanahan three years ago.
They get by doing more with less.
Let’s see how it plays out.
Hauck (and staff) may end up being pretty good.
Dead period doesn’t affect that, and coaches are headed out this upcoming week. I’m guessing $ offers have been very low and kids aren’t interested. Think BB is allocating major money to returners for 2027 and treating the incoming freshman as basically scholarship only guys outside of a handful...
