Lucas Morillo is a multi-read offensive player. He might have an opportunity to be a guy who is allowed to go 1:1 at some point this season. At the very least, he will be encouraged to attack close outs.
Ben, on the other hand - seems he was asked to either shoot the basketball or reset...
Wanted to add - Morillo appears far more likely/ready to contribute than does Ethan Brown. Assessment just from watching some of this game: Brown's team was WAY overmatched. They needed him to be way more assertive for this to be even moderately competitive. Just wasn't that guy on this night...
I’d never heard of Principia until this year. I looked into their schedule and am surprised they even play in the Missouri association playoffs. Place feels like a La Lumiere, which has two teams - one that plays a national schedule and one that operates as a typical high school team.
Principia...
Dang. Really like all of the potential backcourt adds and think there were enough minutes there. The Vaaks thing makes a ton of sense if we want to play slow again. But I think you need like 73-74 possessions/game (as opposed to 67ish) to try to convince all the guys that they will get shots.
Love the kid but Kylan 5 of his last 24 and a vast majority are within 4 feet of the basket. Just never calibrated with that hand, which HAS to be hampering him. Can’t win with that in your backcourt.
So bummed right now. We had a three in the air to go up 11 with two minutes left and then we coached ourselves right out of it. Houston has to be feeling great right now and our guys are like “we just played a masterful half defensively and it’s basically tied.”
