    Week 9 Games

Yea, Oregon came out with a lot of trick plays to start the game that just didn't work. Then the weather was a bit of a factor, cold and rain, this turned it into an old fashioned "run in the mud" kind of game. And Wisconsin has a decent run defense. I believe it was late in the third quarter...

    Memorial Stadium

Yea, Iowa looks like they've got fans right on top of the field. Similar to Autzen. Looks intimidating. One of my favorite Autzen noise stories was when UCLA received the kickoff and started at their own 20. Two plays later they were at the 10 due to illegal movement on the line thanks to crowd...

    Memorial Stadium

The roof plays a part, also, the closeness to the field, you'll notice in many of the pictures the area around the field is curved both on the sidelines and end zones moving the fans away from the field... Not the case at Autzen. I can't tell for sure if other stadiums are similar to Autzen, but...

    Memorial Stadium

There have been rumors of adding another 12,000 to Autzen. Not sure it has any serious "footing" but it could happen. Personally, Autzen is a great experience and a place that is a great home field advantage. Last thing anyone wants is a big stadium with empty seats and no "vibe" or "energy"...

    Memorial Stadium

Just a small note on Oregon, Autzen Stadium capacity is 54,000 and they averaged 59,000 last year. It's difficult to make comparisons without considering percent of capacity.

    Need help navigating CFB recruiting

I don't know if this is of much help, but a few years back I use to play bball with three guys who were former NFL Olinemen. One trait that surprised me inicially was how quick their feet were. Quick and explosive even with their old football bodies worn from war in the trenches, they all still...

Pregame: Illinois at Oregon, Thursday, January 2nd, 9:00pm CT, FS1

agree, I think you're getting Oregon at a prime time for Illinois. Most fans are still focused on football and winter term doesn't start for another week. So yea, not a great home court advantage in this game.

Places to stay: The Gordon Hotel, Fifth Avenue Suites, Hyatt Place at Oakway, and the Graduate are all good hotels... The Gordon, Graduate and Fifth Ave Suites are all in the same general area. Some decent restaurants in that area. Hyatt is over at the Oakway Mall area, it's an area that I like...

You have to take in the athletic dept buildings. Must see Hayward (my avatar), across from the MATT (basketball) is the Jaqua Center, it's a glass building dedicated to educational service for all student athletes. Over at Autzen, you'll have the football facilities which are very nice, PK park...

Well, be safe, driving I-5 at night in January can be very wet and rainy, plus dark. Just be careful, keep your distance from those in front of you and don;'t take risks and you'll be fine. Around Albany and just north of Albany be careful if it gets foggy. I grew up in that area and when the...
