Must disagree a slightly with some of the comments. Any player can be stopped. It’s how you handle it which determines the outcome. If either Shannon or Domask get going expect lots of traps and quick doubles. Must make the right decision when/if that happens. The rest of the team move to open...
The real battle starts. Illinois will most likely not be favored in the rest of the games we play. Want to see the team perform with the big boys now. Top tier game plan, in game adjustments, no passing up open makable shots, keep the pace up, low turn overs, communication on defense and play...
Watch a lot of film on all three know who can shoot and try really hard to stop going under on screen and roll. Who demands a switch who you follow through picks and who you trap. Know before the game if Harmon or Dainja would match up better personnel wise. Know how many guys you can send after...
Gonzaga and NC were the clearly seeded favorably. Auburn and Indiana State were under seeded by a wide margin. Illinois can only blame themself if they don’t make it to the elite eight or better. Though we will probably blame the referees. Should be a fun run.
To be fair Wisconsin was played about as good as they can and Purdue look only partially interested yesterday. So for me officials are always a frustration l, but 2 halves of defense and offense should be a win.
Honest prediction: this team typically beats teams ranked lower than them on the metrics (with a couple bad late game melt downs) and looses to teams ranked higher. Illinois will likely win until they face a team with enough size to stop Domask and a good enough point guard to create mismatches...
Not in total agreement but kind of agree. Last game we held Edey in check and didn’t do too bad once the team calmed down. That game the problem was drives to the basket more than 3 pointers and honestly don’t know how Illinois can stop that third facet. I guess I’d use Edey as a lane clogger...
Honestly see the key to the game being high ball screens with Edey’s man hitting midrange and 3 point shots. It’s the whole reason drop coverage doesn’t work in the NBA, everyone can hit open shots. Illinois has the shooters to do it. No reason to drive into a stationary object. Take what the...
The 2001 Illinois vs Arizona game Walton did with his son playing was the closest I’ve ever come to destroying my television. (I think that was the date, had to look it up been so long ago)
