    Illini Basketball 2026-2027

Likely, other than Ethan himself (along with friends and family), there is no one who wants him to surprise us all and become an Illini star and favorite more than me. But having seen some tape of his play, he is way below B1G standard for strength and speed for that level of contribution...

Quentin Coleman on the USA U18 National Team

For a freshman who has yet to get his feet wet with his Illini teammates, there is so much to like about QC....his presence and demeanor on the court most of all. And his skills are solid in almost all aspects. Sure, like all frosh, he needs a little work on his handle. But he brings...

Quentin Coleman on the USA U18 National Team

Good question....I can confirm Google and I do not know.

    Illini Basketball 2026-2027

I see JJ, Morillo, and ZZ in that order fighting for playing time after the top 7...depending on who is in foul trouble, injured, or needs a breather. Not sure JJ will be healthy enough to play though as that has not been confirmed and his health problem reportedly has a long recovery time...

    Illini Basketball 2026-2027

For this upcoming season, and given I am always intrigued to see how players develop, I am fascinated to see in what areas and how much DM steps his game up. Not since Giorgi have I seen a big surprise me like David did last year....though I must explain that I thought Keaton would surprise...

You should know for a fact that he will be listed at 6'9" by somebody at sometime. Most college teams do that and then when they get to the NBA combine, they lose an inch or two. That practice fools nary a soul and is a pet peeve of mine. I would prefer my roster to be listed an inch shorter...

    Illini Basketball 2026-2027

You are correct...dunno what my thought was but AS should be expected between 16-20 and Vaaks could as well as Mirk. But my overall point is that no single player will be depended upon to lead the team as they all are proven scorers against elite competition. This team should be as...

    Illini Basketball 2026-2027

Great post. No question that QC will likely score over 20 pts. in some game. It is also a safe bet that he will not scored in some game. But on this team with so many guys who can score, 15-18 per game is not likely reachable for any of them, but no one needs to or will be expected to do...

    NBA Draft

Just my two cents....but I really have no confidence that either Mirk of Morez would have been as successful had they co-existed on the same team. Mirk provided just a bit more versatility than Morez while Morez provided a bit more athleticism....not sure we could have achieved more trying...

Really like what I see mechaicswise in those clips...arc, release, straight up. Brings me to expect dependable shooting from him for years. I see why BU likies this guy. As for Kelly, ditto. Hope we see these two continue their collegiate careers together for the Illini.

Great post and insight. It sometimes amazes me how kids with talent that Brad likes for his system get quickly overlooked by our posters in spite of decades of history...and one lower ranked kid that is a one and done lottery pick. Zens intrigues me for several reasons. 1. Positional...

Somebody of that bunch of "Whiz Kids" had to be pretty darned elite. They were the odds on favorite to win it all...but the war took their chance away...a familiar scenario to me.

To me the primary worth of a basketball player is in the name. He must be able to put the ball in the basket...against anyone at anytime. I love having a team that can do that, not only from every position, but also from every level at every position. But I came to understand the...

    Illini in the Pros (Basketball)

Not only were they two former Illini stars and All-Americans, but also two kids from Chicago. Love it.
