That does not exactly mean that you are retaining the in-state talent. You can have an entire roster from the state of Illinois and still not be locking down the high end talent, which is what the poster is alluding to.

If we lost in the first weekend, the Coaching Carousel thread would have been on fire. The Elite 8 run from two years ago would have been justified from some as an outlier end result, and there would be a very vocal minority calling for a new coaching staff. Heck, prior to the tourney this year...

As Duke has shown, a great shot at natty could still end in 2nd weekend, or in Purdue's case a few years back, a first round defeat.

There would certainly be many not wanting the #retention campaign. For better or worse, the tournament results always seem to carry more weight than maybe it should.

We already did that in last years draft with KJ and Riley both going pro, though Wagler going in the draft lottery would be huge.

As a side note, I am disappointed the NBA has his college named as Indiana. He will always be a beloved Illini!
