IHSA Boys Basketball Finals to remain in Champaign thru 2029

I dare anyone who has followed IHSA athletics for the past 50 years, to argue in favor of the current 4 class setup for the boys/girls state basketball tournaments. It's honestly become so watered down that it's rather ridiculous. I remember growing up in the 80s and 90s (and even paying close...

Also reminds me of the 2011 class with Mike Shaw, Myke Henry and Crandall Head. All of those guys were at one time in their HS careers listed on Rivals as a 5 star, only to fall to a 4 star player and eventually transferred out. Just goes to show....you never really know with these ranking...

Absolutely hard pass. There's a reason BU took his foot completely off the gas pedal when this kid was halfway thru his high school career. Talent galore but not much motivation. If he could ever figure that latter part out he'd be a heckuva player!

I actually agree that TR is not the PG next year. If he's not starting at PG to start the year, then that'll indicate Butler likely is. I would say DGL but who knows if he'll even still be here. But yeah I think TR will move back to his natural wing position. At least he should IMO, because at...

If he wants to come back for another year, I'd put Kalkbrenner at the top of that list. After that, Christie for damn sure. Garcia and Storr would be fine too, but Christie would make for a star 2G alongside Rodgers!

Pregame: Illinois vs Nebraska, Sunday, February 4th, 5:30pm CT, BTN

Reminds me of the home game against #2 Wisconsin back in 2007 IIRC. Barely lost the game, but the crowd noise was incredible. Rich McBride hit a 3 late in the game and the roof of the Assembly Hall literally BLEW OFF from the roar of the crowd!!! We need that kind of excitement back!

Exactly! If we're being truly honest, the McD AA game hasn't been jack squat outside of nothing but completely political for several years now. I've been a watcher of the McD pics for several decades now. Some of the picks lately by the committee who decide these 2 teams have been nothing but...

šŸ¤£ The urban legend of the "open growth plates" will never die with us Illini fans!!! Now it makes me wonder....who was the player/recruit that started this trend many years ago? I'm guessing it was Roger Powell or someone around that era, but my brain is failing me as I age.

This kid had "Wisconsin next great white big man" written all over him. So I'm thrilled we got him and get to polish his game over the next couple of years. Kid has a very modern basketball type of game, a skilled and overall very high ceiling. He may not even be done growing.

I saw him last year and got a perfect look at him standing next to James Brown (listed at 6'10") and MJ looked taller. So Morez is either a solid 6'9" easily, or James Brown is no where close to 6'10". Just saying.... šŸ¤”

I know we've had a very long drought of no Burger Boy AAs, but as political as its clearly become over the last 10+ years I really could not care less if Johnson is ultimately dissed of the award. He's a stud, whether he wins a spot or not. The McD AA award just doesn't mean quite what it used...

He's a legit 6'9" for sure. Last month I got a perfect look at him standing next to teammate James Brown who's listed at 6'10" and MJ looked a smidge taller than JB. So unless JB is wildly overrated with the listing of his height, worst case scenario MJ is 6'9".

Watched him and his St. Rita team play back in January. Got a very good look at him and James Brown, as far as height is concerned. He's clearly a smidge taller, so if JB is truly at his listed 6'10" height then so is MJ. But he's most definitely every bit of his 6'9" height (and taller IMO).
