I guess in many respects it doesn't move the proverbial needle. Illinois lost by 23 today. A field goal would have made the margin 20. Not an appreciable difference.
Ugh. The defense needs LOTS of work. I like what I saw from Houser today, he's a smart QB. But until the defense can become more aggressive and force big plays, we're always gonna be behind the 8-ball for quality programs like OSU. Still...a 2-2 start isn't the worst situation we could be in...
My hope is that the Buckeyes come into the game overconfident and make enough unforced or sloppy errors that Illinois has a chance. Of course, Illinois will have to play flawless ball for 60 minutes with no turnovers and few penalties. I'll be recording the game on Saturday...just in case...
Wasn't sure what to think when I saw the line on the game favoring Illinois by 39.5. SIU has 2 wins to our 1. I personally would have shortened the line to more like 12 to 15 points given our disappointing play against Duke last weekend. But with the fellas up 14 now I'm feeling more optimistic...
Missed shots. That was why the Illini lost today. Way too many inside shots missed. Virtually no 3's. The fighting spirit was nice to see, but UConn didn't beat Illinois...Illinois beat themselves. Illinois played well but they didn't look like a championship squad. Good season for the Illini...
I just hope they're not reliving the drubbing they took during the regular season. They're not playing THAT badly, thankfully, but they need to kick it up and sink the baskets.
