I believe it has been said before, but you have other players on the team who will know what you paid for these "bidding war" players. Paying someone way more than other good players sows the seeds of discord. If you are desperate, you pay whatever you think you have to. We are not desperate.

This is very true, but think of all the teams that are one player short of going a whole lot further than they did. Only one team wins the championship and that team got everybody they needed. The hope is that in the future we will be the team that gets all the players it needs. Not necessarily...

If we lose this game or if this game is really close, I see this as (at best) a four win season. If we win convincingly, I am breaking out the orange Kool-Aid. Hate to put so much emphasis on one game, but I think it is warranted in this case.

You mean “when he has a 1000 yard season this year,” we will attract more wide receiver prospects. Based on what he did last year with an inferior offensive scheme, I can’t imagine him not having one of the best wide receiver seasons in recent Illini history.

Everything in recruiting is a concern. They will continue to recruit all players until they sign on the dotted line.
