I'd like to think that the season is being delayed because of ethical reasons not money. College students might not get acutely sick in large numbers but they can certainly carry and transmit the virus. For example, a football player goes to calculus class, gets infected by a student then...
Drake beats UNI - the first time that an 8/9 has beaten a 1 in St. Louis. Bradley wins the second semifinal against SIU. Did Illinois recruit Lance Jones? He played a hell of a game for the Salukis as a freshman. Loyola-Valpo and InSU-MoState in the evening games.
Yeah - and Bradley was down what are probably their best two players with only 7 scholarship players on the bench. ISU was chucking up 3's and hit a few early but it wasn't sustainable. If BU replaces Williams at UNC Wardle would be worth a look; he's done a great job in Peoria.
Much of the improvement was due to a near-perfect punting game. It will be impossible to improve on this next year and it might be a little worse (regression to the mean).
Couple of thoughts - 1) If the Illini don't get a few key defensive regulars back from injury this game could be serious challenge. 2) Against decent defenses the best way forward is to pass to set up the run.
Anyway - enjoy the win for another day.
I was at that game sitting behind the Minny bench - a few of their players were acting like they won the Super Bowl. Brewster had already been fired I believe. Pretty much knew at this time that Zook was toast.
