Not sure if Dan wants to start a new thread for potential DCs but below are some names I'll throw out there for possible DC candidates. If BB makes a 2nd attempt at getting someone from the Mike Macdonald defensive tree... Zach Orr - Seahawks LB coach and former Ravens DC (probably looking for...

Iowa, Washington, and other successful teams have similar NIL limitations as Illinois. The allocation of limited NIL funds makes the GM role crucial to this team's success. BB obviously has final say with roster/$$$ decisions but is Embleton the right guy for the GM role? BB and Embleton...

I really enjoyed the opening hype video and team run out as well as the 4th quarter hype up sequence. They definitely put some time and effort into trying to improve the fan experience. If you get a chance, definitely come out for a night game this season (Nebrasak is the only game currently...

Have the same feeling so I'm going with 8-4. UAB - W Duke - W SIU - W OSU - L Purdue - W MSU - W Oregon - L Maryland - W Nebraska - W UCLA - L Iowa - L Northwestern - W

Flemister commitment date is July 4th. Boyd previously said his commitment date is July 15th. I believe those are the only known possible commits. After that, it could go quiet on the recruiting front. Would be nice if the staff could land at least 1 D-line prospect that weighs more than 230...

I wouldn't say horrible... just limited. There are already fans that sit at that same level in the corners of the SEZ (view from corner seats). Your view of the plays closer to the NEZ is not the greatest but you would get front row seats to all potential scoring plays in the SEZ. I really...

Gabe Jacas return has now gone from 0% chance to 0.0001%!!! Jacas still unsigned 5 for 5 vote in June

Any chance Stepp can pull off the 1-2 punch of Konkey and Knowles? That would be one heck of a size and speed WR combo to land.

I agree that bringing the SEZ stands down closer to the field needs to be priority #1. As you mentioned, this should be a lower cost fix. Football is an arms race and it just doesn't make financial sense to put that much $$$ into a full SEZ rebuild. I know the student section attendance has...

If it required leadership from the NCAA or voluntary reporting from athletic programs to increase transparency then I would agree but outside lawsuits will be the driving factor. How much do college players really get paid? Schools don’t want you to know — but you should

I eagerly await the future where college teams will be forced to be transparent with athlete salaries.

Unfortunately the guy they seemed to be prioritizing instead, Eli Thornton, just committed to Arkansas.

I agree with this (I didn't agree last class when some on this board tried to "spin" that Riordan was not a priority O-line target when he committed to Iowa) but I'm wondering specifically for the class of 27 who are all these recruits everyone is upset that Illinois missed on? Looking at the...

Red flags would be missing out on targets to programs with similar NIL funds. Illinois simply cannot compete dollar for dollar with Michigan, Ohio State, ND, Mizzou, Miami, etc. I'll start getting concerned if recruits the staff is prioritizing start committing to other mid-tier Power4...

The lack of early commitments is frustrating but there haven't been any real red flags yet with how the staff is recruiting this class. The majority of the staff's top targets have not signed elsewhere so it is too early to panic. Staff pursued a top in-state QB in Trae Taylor but couldn't...
