I grew up a Hawkeye (sad, I know). I started as a dual fan in the early 2000's, then when Illinois came back from 20 points down against Rutgers in 2005 - I went out and bought season tickets. I have been loyal since...wish the team was better. I have taken a lot of guff from my Iowa family.
That is what makes me excited. If the strength of the team lives to expectations, the QB and DB play is good enough to win a lot of games. This team looks like another 7-9 game win team. That is what is exciting!

I was thinking of replacement coaches today and kept thinking that Paul Chryst might be the right guy at the right time for NU. Similar (albeit less talented) player as he had at Wisconsin. He is a decent coach and from what I recall, a decent human being.

I hear you. I guess this year we find out if we are Bret Bielema/Wisconsin or Bret Bielema/Arkansas. It is hard as someone who has watched nearly 2 decades not to be optimistic that we might be the new Wisconsin.
