Conference Realignment: Texas, Oklahoma to the SEC?

Effectively if you add 6 (USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Stanford, Colorado) You have a “West” pod of USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Stanford and then a “Midwest” pod of Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin (or something similar anyway).

Conference Realignment: Texas, Oklahoma to the SEC?

Something notable for the Texas A&M to B10 folks. Kinda interesting if they bolted now because Texas and OU supposedly won’t leave the Big12 till the rights expire in 2025 (I know that can be lawyered down/away)

Conference Realignment: Texas, Oklahoma to the SEC?

The reason I listed it that way is because in order to get a team from the ACC (Virginia, UNC and I’ll add Clemson and GT for you) I would think the B10 will have to first destabilize it somewhat. Otherwise the incentive for UNC or Virginia or Clemson or even GT is weaker. FSU is the domino...

Conference Realignment: Texas, Oklahoma to the SEC?

Maybe but lets say you do poach an A&M or an FSU. You don’t want to stay at 15. Then maybe Kansas becomes palatable, right? On its own I’d say no way. Though with Warren helming the thing who knows.

Conference Realignment: Texas, Oklahoma to the SEC?

    1. UNC - Poor ACC payout (AAU Member/New Market) 2. Virginia - Poor ACC payout (AAU Member/New Market) 3. Kansas - Dissolving Big12 (AAU Member/New Market) 4. Texas A&M - SEC betrayal/Differentiate from Texas (AAU Member/New Market) 5. FSU - Poor ACC and poor FSU (National Brand/New Market) IF...

Conference Realignment: Texas, Oklahoma to the SEC?

I do kinda wonder if you could flip them. I mean their conference just inarguably betrayed them and went behind their back. Flip them and add Virginia….that’s a better result than we got the last round of expansion.

Conference Realignment: Texas, Oklahoma to the SEC?

I wonder if it’s even worth it for them. I’d be curious on the financials of the Big12 sans Texas and OU and how conference stability might factor into any calculations. I mean let’s say Houston & Cinci do join but then we take Kansas. That’s not a super great spot to be in and arguably worse...

Conference Realignment: Texas, Oklahoma to the SEC?

I’m just not sure we go somewhere that isn’t remotely close to the rest of the more northern Big10. Otherwise then yeah FSU is an easy pull based on all the rumors about their terrible finances. The other issue is the last Big10 commissioner we had was a visionary. Warren has so far proven...

Conference Realignment: Texas, Oklahoma to the SEC?

I feel like culturally, academically, money-wise you are really looking at Va Tech, Virginia, and UNC. West Va doesn’t have the academics. Colorado is probably too far west. You aren’t taking ISU, KSU, Kansas, or Okla State. There just isn’t much room to maneuver here. GT and FSU are probably...

Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread (Week of July 12th)

Soo I suppose I gotta ask since Alabama isn’t recruiting him, are we actually recruiting him?

Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread (Week of July 5th)

Agree. Ayo was actually pretty well set up for this cuz of his family. Idk how many other players who will have people that can kinda step into these roles to lessen the burden on the player

Kofi Cockburn in the transfer portal

Agreed. Kentucky makes no sense with Tshiebwe. This is a maximize value kinda ploy it’s just not really fun for fans.

Kofi Cockburn in the transfer portal

You can’t put his jersey in the rafters if he finishes his career at a different school right? That’d be a bad look.

    Illini Basketball 2021-2022

According to the Illinois post on the fighting Illini website it almost certainly does. “*Sale of team issued gear is prohibited until departure from the University of Illinois.” I suppose this could be an Illinois rule instead of NCAA but… https://fightingillini.com/feature/illiniinfluence
