@Fighter of the Nightman, I also support the idea of having banners on the side of the new scoreboard. While the scoreboard was still in the NEZ, it had historical images and sponsorship logos; I suspect that the SEZ banners might be similar.
Any idea how wide Assembly Hall/SFC is? The new scoreboard looks to be at least 60% of AH/SFC's width.
With that big of a scoreboard, the gaps to the towers make it look like something is missing. Maybe we - Whitman with Gies, Shad, etc. - need to look into @Fighter of the Nightman's...
Ballparking it, I would say that bleachers in the gap would add around 2k seats.
Fans in those bleacher seats would likely access food, restrooms, and other services by going up the closest stairs on the sidelines.
If they build a Kirby underpass, then it would require the same process.
To get around Kirby, I would stick with blocking the road on gamedays and/or building a bridge over the road, a la Iowa State, but on a smaller scale.
'Don't throw shade on the corn'.
The underground Undergrad Library likely has a thick dam wall around the outside and boatload of French drains to keep water out. Lowering GMS's field ~10 ft could be done in a similar way but would be costly. The first few sideline rows would likely need to be...
I was on campus Monday afternoon, the old SEZ scoreboard is still up. I could not see any concrete work for the new scoreboard, I do not remember how it will be supported.
Where there's smoke, there's fire? I've wondered when NDSU might move to FBS, MWC makes sense. Maybe SDSU, Montana, Montana State, Sac State, and/or UC-Davis will come too.
Will IL State move up eventually? I'd bet MAC for them.
I watched the Unity-Byron 3A Championship and he played his heart out, was sorry to see Unity lose. In either case, glad to see Considine become an Illini!
I heard rumors when I was in school that Hef wanted to donate a good amount of money but admin didn't like the optics.
I won't be surprised if State Farm, John Deere, Case New Holland, CAT, or another major instate company became the non-Nike logo.
I drove through campus earlier this week and the construction crews have already removed the wording from the Kirby Street side of the scoreboard, we've all seen videos of the display screens being removed from the stadium side. I suspect that the scoreboard structure will be taken down pretty...
