Anyone else hear the announcer voice when you read "Home of the Fighting Illini"?

I think that filling in the horseshoe would add closer to 2500 or 3000 (25 or 30 per row x 20 rows x 5 sections). If the DIA leaves a tunnel in the SEZ, the. The add will be around 2200 to 2700. Bringing GMS's total capacity to 63k or 64k.

I'm with you. I appreciate watching geographic/commodity bowl game sponsored by X company, it provides some tradition and a connection to the game location.

I wonder if John Deere and Case New Holland (CNH) were in the running? Both have facilities in Illinois, good ties with the university, etc.

@Fighter of the Nightman, the ESL and WSL have roughly a 1 to 3 raise to run. The SEZ is the same or very similar. I never sat in the NEZ, so I do have definitive numbers, but its probably close to 1 to 2. East and West upper decks are definitely steepest, probably 2 to 3 or 3 to 4.

I was just about to post this. I feel that 8-4 is very achievable this year. Aren't these normally low 8-4 or 7-5 B1G bowls games?

I support closing in the SEZ's lower bowl - there may need to be a middle or corner field access tunnel kept through - and some kind of brick wall at the back. If we want to keep in sound, I can see there being banners/advertisement signs on either side of the scoreboard.

#2 when I voted a few minutes ago, keep it up everyone and spread the word

@Fighter of the Nightman, I also support the idea of having banners on the side of the new scoreboard. While the scoreboard was still in the NEZ, it had historical images and sponsorship logos; I suspect that the SEZ banners might be similar.

Any idea how wide Assembly Hall/SFC is? The new scoreboard looks to be at least 60% of AH/SFC's width. With that big of a scoreboard, the gaps to the towers make it look like something is missing. Maybe we - Whitman with Gies, Shad, etc. - need to look into @Fighter of the Nightman's...

Ballparking it, I would say that bleachers in the gap would add around 2k seats. Fans in those bleacher seats would likely access food, restrooms, and other services by going up the closest stairs on the sidelines.

If they build a Kirby underpass, then it would require the same process. To get around Kirby, I would stick with blocking the road on gamedays and/or building a bridge over the road, a la Iowa State, but on a smaller scale.

'Don't throw shade on the corn'. The underground Undergrad Library likely has a thick dam wall around the outside and boatload of French drains to keep water out. Lowering GMS's field ~10 ft could be done in a similar way but would be costly. The first few sideline rows would likely need to be...
