Why would you add back time only once? If it happened 10 times a game, wouldn't that be relevant? Five more seconds per half? It's totally random and it only occurred in order to potentially rescue UM from an embarrassing loss. I can guarantee that if the Illini were in WMU's shoes in this case...

Why don't they add time back on to the clock every time this happens throughout a game?

I think we may be talking past each other. If it is relevant on the last play, why isn't it relevant on the other X number of plays that start from a dead ball where the clock did the same thing?

Yes, no revision needed to be done if there were no similar revisions happening throughout the game. My post is in response to those observing that the clock went from 9 to 8 in less than a second. I'm suggesting that is irrelevant. The clock clearly struck zero before the play ended, so, game over.

Throughout an entire game, after every dead ball, does the official clock get revised up to the previous second if, at the start of the play just ended, the clock had ticked down to the next second in less than a full second? If not, then the last play of the game should not be afforded this...
