1/8 Games

MSU was up at one point in the first half 33-16. At that point, ESPN’s game tracker had MSU with a 95% win probability. Purdue ended up winning by 1, 55-54.

Unbelievable comeback by Purdue....I turned it off after their late turnover and they were forced to foul.

Champaign
Painter put in the big kid on Williams free throw and he knocked the missed free throw that allowed Purdue to get a jump ball.

Yea...and right before that MSU inbounding with 10 seconds resulted in turnover....that inbound play should have allowed MSU to seal it.

I'm sure IZZO knows he let one get away.

The B1G is like one of those gladiator movies where they fill the arena with a bunch of guys to see the last one standing...and even that guy looks pretty beaten up.

Updated per possession statistics after today's lone B1G game:

Starting to separate into four groups of teams: the top 4 (Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin), the middle 6 (Ohio St, Minnesota, Rutgers, Indiana, Purdue, MSU) the bubbling 3 (Northwestern, PSU, Maryland) and the ugly (Nebraska). PSU hasn't played in 2 weeks, and Maryland scraped by with a win at Wisconsin, but effectively 10 teams are thinking tournament for sure, with Northwestern needing to turn things around in a hurry to get back into the conversation.

Purdue just upset Michigan State on the road.

They commit silly Turnovers probably more then us def the 2 times I've seen them they did ..
Did not impress me at all!
Sure Izzo will get them playing better but he needs to do it yesterday!!

Looking at the stat sheet, I can't really tell how Purdue managed to win.

Up til now, Michigan State has stayed nationally ranked based on prior reputation alone. Their multiplying losses will finally drop them from the top 25 this week.

Pyotr,
I understand the concept of efficiency fine, but a question about the details.
What is one possession? For example, if we shoot and get the offensive rebound, is that one or two possessions?
One definition says we were 100% efficient and one says we were 50% efficient.
I just want to understand the specifics.
Thanks

An offensive rebound continues the same possesssion. A tie-up that awards the ball to the current offensive team also continues the same possession. So in a game both teams will have the same number of possessions, except when the same team gets the ball both first and last in a game.

There’s a reason Tom Izzo cried for so many fired coaches in the big ten. That said I don’t feel bad for him. I’m sure after that loss they’ll climb two spots in the rankings.

What I do is to record every Big Ten game. Most of them, I just go ahead and delete. However, when you get a game like MSU/Purdue, it's there for the taking.
Same. Glad Youtube TV has unlimited DVR. My little kids keep me from watching as many as I'd like, but it's a solid strategy

The other nice feature of UTube TV is being able to resume where you last viewed. So if you are watching multiple games and add them to your library you can flip from game to game fast forwarding thru commercials to only view the games.

Fast forwarding thru commercials...what a novel idea, thats what pisses me off about hulu, not being able to do that.....
