Never been a big fan of our renovation. There's a lot of dead space around the court. The suites and club seating take away from the intimidating atmosphere. Not a solid sea of orange from floor to rafters like it used to be. I think our student section is only on two sides. One baseline houses the band and special visitors and one sideline is just standard seating. For being such premium, highly visible seats, the baseline opposite the Krush can look pretty lame at times. Texas's student section looks to be like 25% bigger than ours. And the entire lower bowl looks absolutely raucous. Even with our recent success, I've never heard the SFC get as loud as the Assembly Hall used to get. The amenities are nice and I'm sure the suites make certain people happy. But as someone who sits in the 200 section, I'm just concerned with the atmosphere and giving our team the best home court advantage in the country. And I don't think the renovation took the proper steps toward doing that. From what I can tell, Texas has done a good job of giving their team a good home court advantage, despite a smaller capacity. Edit: to be clear, I wouldn't trade our stadium for theirs. But I think their lower level / student seating is better designed than ours.
