Annoying, but not surprising. Go 2-0 this week and we're easily back in.Illinois remains unranked in AP Poll

It's not a big deal. None of this matters until February. All these rankings is only to give fans something to do between now and tourney time. Out of curiosity I looked at the Sagarin. Illinois is 28th but their strength of schedule is 166th. Of the teams above them 9 of them have faced a weaker schedule so far. Also it's difficult to overcome a Quad 2 loss in only 8 games.
I don't think anyone should be pissed. The steaming pile they laid against Cincinnati is going to take awhile to clean up. Belo wasn't playing well when he was active. There are a number of die-hard fans on here that aren't sure we are better with him in the lineup right now. (I totally disagree, but the TO numbers speak for themselves...) You have to reward the teams that are winning games. The only 2 loss teams in the rankings have top 25 wins and both losses against top 25 teams*. (*OSU had a loss against Xavier #27; but also beat Duke)
Probably had more to do with teams behind us picking up good wins. We won, but we were supposed to. We really only played well against Rutgers. If I didn't know our position in the AP poll last week, #28 is expected due to not one, but two bad losses. But ... we ranked # 26 last week, and defeated 2 major league teams with a dominating 35 points win, and they moved us down? Why?
Yeah I mean it's fun to see the little number next to your school, but it's all about the Ws in the end.I have no quarrel with AP poll. We won two games we thought we would, so did we really deserve to move up? Illini will have plenty of chances — like this week — to win games that will get them into and move them up rankings.
