Time to bury the old thread. Hopefully, the Hawks repeat. Toughest championship in team sports. Doubly tough with the hard cap.

Still need to sign Kruger and Lord knows what is going to happen with Kane. Can't believe the season will start again in a month.

19 skaters for the whole season? What happens if someone gets hurt?

Gotta imagine they'll try to squeeze at least one more guy into the $900k (I think) they have left.

Definitely going to add a D-man. I'm sure Stan would like to add another skater, but carrying Bickell pretty much precludes it.

I can't shake this feeling of dread that has arisen from this offseason. Sharp and Saad gone, Kane doing Kane-ish things, no takers for Bickell. I trust Bowman fully and know that he will do what is best for the team to put a winner on the ice, but.....

I too see a retooling season for the Hawks in which they could finish in the bottom 2 or 3 of those who make the playoffs or perhaps even miss by a bit like LA last year.

Nope. With all the changes, they're still the favorites. Obviously, that doesn't mean much.

There will be teething pains, but they should be a juggernaut the second half of the RS. I think Panarin and Dano are going to be minimally VG, TT continue his trajectory and Anisimov to finally be the Hawks' answer at #2C.

The Kane case just went sideways and weird. Within a couple days, the alleged victim's counsel made a big public stand on how the alleged victim's mother found some tampered evidence, and then abruptly withdrew from the case when he found out the mother probably fabricated it.

Doesn't mean the victim is making things up, but it's certainly not good for the prosecution. At least one member of the victim's family is a liar or a loon. I'm starting to think the case against Kane might completely fall apart. I'm not really sure how I feel about that.

My heart goes out to any victim of this horrible crime, but 670 has handled this whole thing terribly imho. The afternoon show in particular has done nothing but assume that he did it the entire time. I will be interested in hearing how they spin this if the case is indeed dropped.

B&B? They'll still say he's guilty.

There are three outsider viewpoints (and I've simplified these a bit):

1) "Fanboy, Kane can do nothing wrong, he is a god"
2) "Wait and see for more facts to come out"
3) "Rape is terrible, under-reported and we should assume guilt before innocence in these cases"

The problem is that those who identify as "Group 2" will almost immediately get lumped in with "Group 1" by "Group 3".

Unable to watch presser, what happened?

The DA went into great detail on how the rape kit is taken and stored and proved beyond a doubt that the bag the accuser's lawyer had didn't come from the kit, but rather was a bag given to the mother to put the alleged victim's shirt in. Called what the mother did a "hoax" and said the fact that the accuser's attorney didn't know the kit was in a box instead of a bag means he "didn't know what he was doing."

Says that if the alleged victim knew about any of this, her case would be very damaged. Says the question is not "when" the case goes to the grand jury, but "if."

While the case is still ongoing, it certainly sounds like it's dead in the water. The alleged victim, or at least her mother, may have been playing fast and loose with evidence as of the night of the incident.

The criminal case is all but officially dead. The civil case (which hasn't been filed yet) is on very shaky ground.

DiCaro, Bernstein, et al should be ashamed of themselves. Mockery of a travesty.

They are the worst kind of people. I haven't listened to 670 for years because of them.

Bickell placed on waivers.

Assuming he isn't picked up due to his salary, does he sign elsewhere, or back with Hawks at a lower salary?

No one's going to pick him up. The Hawks will assign him to Rockford, and $3.05M of his $4M salary will count against the cap. They'd rather eat the 3 mil and have a useful player (Baun), than have Bicks on the roster.

Doesn't sound like Bickell will be sent to Rockford. Appears that waivers was a wake up call.
