After a stinker of a match against Colombia the US men put a beating on Costa Rica last night. Clint Dempsey had a huge night and made it difficult to be left out of the lineup for the foreseeable future.

Anyone else watching the tournament?

Jones had a much better game than Dempsey. Dempsey's assist...lol. He held the ball way too long. Not a fan of hero ball. Paraguay isn't going to be a gimme.

But, yeah, been lovin' the tournament. And Euro 2016 right around the corner.

I am catching bits and pieces and saw the first half of the US game today after seeing the second last night. I really like the game and I am slowly (s-l-o-w-l-y) gaining a little more understanding of what is going on. I have noticed that these games are not as "crisp" as EPL, which I suppose speaks to a lot of differences, including talent level, dedicated season, $$$$, peripherals, & etc. But still, MORE FUTBALL! U-S-A, U-S-A!

I was at the USA loss to Columbia at Levi Stadium. I was working concessions as a fund raiser for a non-profit I'm involved with. The energy on the USA side, both in the stands and on the field was low.

You are definitely right there. It also has a lot to do with style of play. South American countries are known for their high pressure, intense, chaotic, and/or flashy play. It's not always crisp but it can be very entertaining.

The Costa Rica fans were really vocal until halftime. We had a large number of them directly behind us during the game and between them and the outlaws, the energy in the stadium made it pretty fun.

The last 3 goals were all great. Jones and Dempsey were fantastic on the second goal, Bobby Wood made a great turn and strike on the third, and Zusi was a one man show on the fourth. It was a great first game for the family.

I'm thinking about going to the semi final in Chicago. Tickets are EXPENSIVE but it might be worth it if the right teams are playing.

I've been watching international soccer my whole life and every Mexico game still amazes me with how passionate their fan base is. It truly is a home field advantage. When they have their fans behind them they are nearly impossible to beat. Hopefully the game is somewhere up North if we do end up facing them in the knockout stages.

When we finally broke through at Azteca, that was amazing. Lots of fits and starts since then.

The Reggae Boyz are giving El Tri a go. Should be up 2-1.

I am sure that most folks taking the time to read this thread are already well aware of this, but there is an official American Outlaws chapter in Champaign. Their main presence is on twitter. https://twitter.com/aochampaign

Messi, Messi, Messi!

As a sub.

Hat trick and he didn't enter the game until after the 60th minute. Just incredible.

That free kick too, right over the net wall into the upper 90.

Pretty good was a joke. Sublime is more accurate.

Perhaps needless to say, but really hoping he's well enough to start the remaining games. 'Cause we're watching a DiVinci-type talent. What a treat.

I was a football player and never had any appreciation for the game of soccer (just didn't get it) until my boys started playing at a high level. I don't think the average person really understands just how hard it is to do some of the things he does. His foot speed and precision are truly incredible. Watching the replays of those goals and recognizing just how slim the margin of error was on those shots and to think that he makes those kind of plays on a regular basis is mind blowing.

Today's 90+ degree temp is severely frowned on where I am, but what a great excuse to watch soccer all day - ok Swiss, woot! Wales, WTEngland???, and now USA up 1 at half.

That was a great first half. We let off the gas a little too much but Dempsey's goal was nice. Lets see how the second half goes.

Costa Rica! Jeebus! Love this tournament. Columbia's going to win, but what a shot.

What a crazy game.

Yedlin's second yellow looked obvious at first, but it looked like his plant foot slipped. Still a yellow but it's just really unlucky IMO.

Let's see who we get in the quarters. If Columbia win/draw then we finish 2nd. If they lose we finish first. And our potential opponent for the quarters will be Brazil, Ecuador, or Peru. Obviously one of those is not like the other.
