Good weekend for Brian Campbell, posting a -14 and finishing T3 in the Web.com's Savannah Championship. Puts him closer to the Top 25, which would get him back into the PGA Tour.

Detry made a cut on the PGA Tour, finishing T33 in the Dominican Republic (concurrent tournament to the match play) - hopefully we'll see him over here more often. Also Lipparelli finished a solo second in Egypt (part of the "Alps Tour" - found this one on the world golf rankings page: LINK).

Can't get much better comeback stories than what Tiger pulled off winning the Masters.
Honestly never thought I would see it. I remember watching Palmer as a kid and always hoping for one more miracle. Woods isn’t that old, but I never thought his health would let him finish a major tournament like that again. Good for him.

I definitely agree, pretty amazing to see Tiger pull it out like old times. I'm still skeptical he'll stay injury-free for the next few years, but if he does he should be able to make a run at Jack's record of 18 majors. Not to mention he's one away from tying Sam Snead for most PGA Tour victories, that record will definitely fall soon...

The Cubs winning their first world series in 108 years after being down 3-1 in the WS, was the biggest "comeback" story , really .
But Tiger winning Sunday, was pretty sweet, and Im really a Mickelson guy. But I liked Tiger ever since I saw him on George Michael Sports Machine show as a 4 year old in the early 80's.

I am not a Tiger fan at all, but that was a great win and he deserves all of the accolades that he is getting.

Eh, honestly depends on your perspective. Tiger winning a major after everything that's happened to him, greatest single person comeback ever, probably the least likely comeback too.

The Cubs drought plays a factor, but it doesn't influence the team like drug problems and back surgeries. I honestly would rank the 2004 ALCS above the Cubs winning the WS, that was something you don't forget, even when you aren't a fan of either teams in it.

Brian Campbell is tied for the lead thru 6 at the Web.com's Nashville Open. Currently -12, tied with two others. Let's go Brian, finish strong!

Brian stayed right around -12 throughout the day, finished T6 (3 strokes behind Scottie Sheffler, the winner). Still a solid showing by Campbell, puts him at 25th in the Web.com standings - top 25 at the end of the season will get TOUR cards.

Hasn't been quite as nice for the other Web.com Illini. Dylan Meyer has had a rough season so far, still hasn't made a cut. Luke Guthrie made his first cut this weekend enroute to a T56, but only has conditional status so he doesn't get into nearly as many tournaments.

OK everybody. Let the wild ride begin as the second major of the season kicks off today!!
Our very own Mr. Steve Stricker and Mr. Thomas Pieters of the O&B are participating this week.
May the O&B Golf Force be with you both!!

Thomas Pieters off to an awful start, +6 after just three holes !
Now fighting his way back, but still in black figures.

Tense day ahead as Stricker is at +3 and Pieters is at +4 at the PGA
But that's OK ...'cause we know you have sand...
Go O&B!!

Despite going +6 in his first three holes, Pieters was able to make the cut and finish T23. Very impressive turnaround, gave him a $91K paycheck.

Also a note for all the folks in the Chicago area, the Web.com Tour stops at Glenview this weekend. Campbell, Hardy, and Meyer are in the field.

Been a witness to this many times on the course.

Charlie Danielson appears to be back in full force after surgery last year, as he qualified for the U.S. Open next month! Great to see him back, hopefully he can work his way up to the Tour soon enough.

Osceola Sun article

Charlie qualified in the first qualifier - the rest will be next Monday in England and throughout the states, hopefully we'll get a few more Illini into the field. I think Chopra is the only current Illini to make the sectional qualifier.

Also on the Web.com tour, Luke Guthrie continues to finish strong with a T4 in Glenview. Nick Hardy also made the cut w/ a top 30 finish.

Tomorrow is U.S. Open qualifying day, where 10 of the 12 qualifiers take place - 36 holes, top 10% or so get in. Here's where I found the Illini:

Dallas (May 20) - Charlie Danielson, already qualified!
Surrey, England - Thomas Pieters, Thomas Detry
Ontario, Canada - Scott Langley
Brookside, Ohio - Steve Stricker, Luke Guthrie
Springfield, Ohio - Dylan Meyer, Nick Hardy, Varun Chopra (a)
Couldn't get Rockville, MD field, perhaps Brian Campbell will be there?
D.A. Points is out w/ an injury, which is why he's not competing.

Unfortunately only Varun made it past the first qualifying round, so he'll be the only current Illini with a shot to make the field. In all I count 8 Illini trying to join Charlie in the field (9 if Campbell is playing). Best of luck to all!

Great day by Luke Guthrie, who will end the day on top of the leaderboard at Columbus (against a bunch of PGA Tour members). Guth will join fellow qualifiers Charlie Danielson, Thomas Pieters, and Nick Hardy at Pebble Beach next week for the U.S. Open. Congrats to all!

Eduardo Lipparelli earned his first professional victory this weekend in Guadeloupe on the Alps Tour! He's had three second-place finishes as well on the tour in his first season, putting him at a close seond in the current standings. Congrats to Eduardo, good to see another Illini come on strong!

Alps Tour Article

I did a little reading on this, it looks like the Alps Tour is a third-tier tour for the European Tour - similar to the Canadian Tour that Danielson is on. If Eduardo keeps it up (top five in money at the end of the season), he'll promote to the second-tier Challenge Tour next year, then hopefully he can earn is way onto the European Tour in due time.
