2021-22 Illini Men's Golf

The boys are in position for a huge win at The Blessings today. Major college tourney that is getting broadcast on the Golf Channel. Currently behind only Arkansas and Hunt and AdC are in the running for the individual title. After a T1 in their first tournament and then a disappointing 2nd tournament this would be a huge boost in confidence for this year's squad.

Thanks for the alert about tourney being on Golf Channel. I’ll have to try and check it out.

I was really hoping Illini would finish alone in second place, not T4; would have been impressive. Oh, well.

I volunteered at Rich Harvest Farms last weekend for its intercollegiate which had a good field, including Michigan (NIU finished fourth - ahead of Mich!).

I knew Brendan O'Reilly was no longer an Illini, but I didn't know he transferred to UM.

Good luck to him. And Illinois at Isleworth starting 10/17, I think.

I watched a fair amount of the Golf Channel broadcast, and the sophomore Hunt looked pretty good.
Yes, he won the Western Junior in 2019 and the Wisconsin State Amateur in July this year. Illini got a pretty good one; he had offers, including Vanderbilt. Go Piercen and Illini.

Brendan was recruited to Illinois by Zach Barlow who was an assistant at Illinois for several years before taking the head position at Michigan.

Using stroke average for the year, Brendan would stand seventh on the current Illinois roster. Noah Gillard (now at Indiana) would be second if he was still at Illinois.

Varun Chopra is playing well at Northwestern also, though their site is not updated for this year which is poor form for a NCAA program. I would rather have all three of them then Lang.

Looks like it's a battle for second (again for Illini) at Isleworth. Piercen, the man. Also looks like Coach Small is trying to find the best starting five for spring. Go Illini!

Let us not be unkind re: college athletes.

Think, friend. Friend, good!

wasn't really meaning to be unkind, I guess saying that the three guys who left the team are playing better then the one we brought in over them is not a positive statement, but I've got nothing against anybody on the squad. Rooting for them all.

Yes, "lots of golf left".
Hope no. 26 Illini can finish well and crack Golfstat's top 25 and move ahead of three Big imposters: Purdue, NW and Indiana.

(Arizona #4; Auburn #21; LSU #23)

Wow, ASU had an incredible day 1, 12 strokes better than us. Now, we are just 2 back.
yep, two back, with 5 golfers counting 4 you just need to stay within touch and these can change in hurry, good or bad.

both team pumping in birds down the stretch, looking for a hero

man nothing but red on the card for ASU down the stretch, really strong
