As a conference homer, that was devastating.

Why wouldn't Gard have told Hayes to miss that last free throw (as if Hayes has that much control....)? By the time FL got the board, they would have ended up with a half court heave. Further, Happ being under the hoop made 0 sense. No way did they have enough time to make him relevant on the play.

0 big ten, 3 SEC teams... Not very good

Meh. OT loss for Wisconsin at the buzzer, three at the buzzer didn't go in for Michigan, and Purdue ran into the Kansas buzzsaw. Not a lot to hang your head about there. The conference represented well.

Down year for the Big Ten. We fill out the card but we're not the headliner.

Perhaps it won't be long until Illinois leads the Big Ten back to the Final Four where it belongs.

That wasn't the mistake. The mistake was having Nigel Hayes guarding the PG 94 feet. A faster defender who can turn the ballhandler a couple times and the shot is coming from 10-15 feet behind the line.

ding ding ding

It was a textbook example of why a team should practice those end-of-game scenarios, even though it may seem silly and a waste of time in the moment.

Needed Wisconsin to carry the banner. Really thought they had it after forcing OT. Koenig hurting didn't help and I know you don't want foul in that situation but, there has to be more defense than that on the final play.

Really jealous of Wisconsin though. It would be nice to have our team in the 2nd weekend 4 years in a row. Heck just start with 1 or just making the tournament. I'll live with a last second loss in the Sweet Sixteen once in a while.

Have to wonder if this was a coaching fail or a fail in execution. They seemed woefully unprepared, while everyone else knew exactly what was going to happen.

I believe there was a substitution after the second free throw, so there was time to set up properly defensively. Trice was in the game playing safety at half court. From the outside, seems like an easy switch to get Trice and Hayes flipped. However, I'm not in wisconsin's practices or bogged down by the pressure of being 4 seconds away from an elite eight, so in reality, I know nothing.
