B1G / ACC Challenge

damn...the B1G not doing too well in this challenge so far. Hopefully Rutgers and Purdue pull it out, but not looking good for the B1G so far.

B10 Down

Big 10 is in a rebuilding year. All the top 10 classes will change things soon, but ACC much stronger, and Big East looked strong up against the B10 in Gavitt Games.

Agreed, 4-5 bid league tops, like sec last few years?

If Pitts is included, those 1 or 2 points losses could easily be wins...

If we can pull out an away win and Purdue holds on, then B1G should be fine.

Purdue up 4, 52 seconds left.
Need a big win

Edit: after a steal by putting, Louisville is now fouling intentionally

Iowa getting smashed in the second half against VT. Was 38-38 at halftime. Now 75-51.

The Big Ten is really pretty bad. Didnt think the league was this bad, but here we are. Even bad teams in the ACC look good today

If we finish behind within 5 spots of the last B1G team that makes the tourney, we should be satisfied

Having watched a fair bit of these 14 games, I think that Illinois should wear ACC uniforms in all conference games. Not a good showing by the B1G

Sparty is good

Not sure if you guys caught halftime, Jay Williams had us in B10 tier 3, with Iowa and a few other teams, says B10 is a 4-5 bid league right now.

I'm not sure about 5 at this point, 8th rated league in RPI right now is really really not good.

A lot will change over the course of the season, but as of now, the B1G will be down with mediocrity being the norm not the exception.

I still believe we will get 6-7 teams in, just not in WOW fashion, like these teams are unbelievable as in some past years. More like, meh, they are good, not great, but still better than how many mid major/2nd tier other conference teams?

MSU
Minny
Whisky
Maryland
Northwestern
Purdue

1 more sneaks in for 7? ILLINI? We will see.

MSU is the only Top 10 worthy team as it stands. But I can't remember a year where the B1G didn't get at least 6 bids. I'd be pretty surprised if that changed.

In 2004, it was just Illinois, Wisconsin, and MSU. That may be going back farther than you were thinking though...

I was thinking the past 7-8 years which is about as far back as I can recall number of conference seeds. [emoji14]

I think as of now Penn State is also a contender. Whisky, Maryland, NW and Purdue are not guaranteed.

If Wisconsin doesn't make the dance...do they can Gard? I mean, he was sort of "forced" on them, right?

I think it would depend on the kind of season they have.

If they hang around all year and just fall on the wrong side of the bubble, he'll get another year. They are likewise a very inexperienced team, though they do have a POY candidate.

If this season ends without any chance of a berth, I think it would be wise for them to look into a new coach. He's really proved nothing and rumors of rifts between players are there (FWIW).
