B1G Coaches

There have been eras where coaches in the B1G had outsized personalities like Bo Schenbechler, Hayden Fry and the bombastic George Perles at MSU. I thought Urban Meyer was an arrogant jerk who would be the most annoying B1G coach in the current era but Harbaugh is winning this race hands down. He doesn't inspire hate. I'm just getting tired of his shtick and the media fawning. Wonder why they got sick of him in San Francisco.

Michigan = annoying, so he is a great fit. Harbaugh's job is to win at Michigan and he doesn't care what the rest of the B1G fans think. To that extent he is doing a good job to date, so we better get used to him.

Also makes me appreciate Lovie, staff, and his approach.

Harbaugh is the Secretariat of arrogance. Running away with it. The fandom will turn quickly if he falters. Nothing like an NFL city though.

I'm thrilled we got Lovie Smith as our coach, don't get me wrong... but I'd take Harbaugh any day of the week over Lovie.

I think most great coaches are arrogant, but you are right, he seems to take it to a whole new level. I'm wondering though if we haven't entered the golden age of coaching in the Big 10.

Meyer- Easily top 5, probably #1

Harbaugh- Probably top 5

Dantonio- Has proven himself to be an elite coach

Franklin- Unproven to an extent, but a huge hire at time

Ferentz- Huge contract sometimes skews exactly how good he has been.

Lovie- Wildcard, but a huge name with NFL success

Reminds me of the 80's in basketball. Knight, Henson, Keady, Heathcoat, Frieder, Davis(puke)
