At this point, is it pretty much assured that it’s either Tampa or Nashville? And if so, what do we all think the chances of either are?

Either is fine with me - who would have dreamed of this scenario last summer? And I really would be happy if Miznoz is stuck in Birmingham.

Either is fine for me, too, as an Illini fan. For program reasons I’m hoping for Tampa as I feel it’s the “better” bowl. For selfish reasons I’m hoping Nashville (my family will attend).

My projections

Rose- Utah vs Penn St.
Sugar -Alabama vs Kansas St.
Orange- Clemson vs Tennessee
Cotton- USC vs. Tulane
Illini in the Citrus vs LSU

Brett McMurphy has Illini playing Mississippi State in ReliaQuest Bowl. Both ESPN.com projections also have Illinois in Reliaquest Bowl facing either Arkansas or South Carolina.

For those asking, Mizzou is either projected to be in the Gasparilla Bowl (Former St. Petersburg Bowl now played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa) against Wake Forest or in the Birmingham Bowl vs. Syracuse.

Here are the College Football Playoff match-ups:

-Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl: #1 Georgia vs. #4 Ohio State
-Vrbo Fiesta Bowl: #2 Michigan vs. #3 TCU

Alabama is at #5 and Tennessee is at #6.

With Ohio State and Michigan in the CFP Playoff, I'd think it's Penn State vs. Utah in the Rose Bowl.

No Bama. Sec has 3 teams in top 6. Would been interesting 12 team playoff

Under 12 team format, Ohio State would actually be 6 seed and would have first round game at home (TCU would be 5 seed). Top 4 seeds are all conference champions so whoever ends up ahead in the rankings between Utah and K-State would get the final first round bye.

If this were to come true, how much of an impact, if any, do you think Purdue's performance last night had on this selection?

I would think Citrus Bowl Committee would think Illinois has a better chance at keeping game competitive, as shown by Illini and Purdue performances against Michigan, respectively; as well as fan base traveling of course.

Really? You think so? I was also in the camp that thought that this was a very low probability.
Yes.

Yesterday’s game played a huge factor in bowl destinations

Bowl selection is fluid until the games are played so many factors and so much money

My question is depending on the game we get will our players with draft prospects want to show off their skills?

Could care less about Mizzou.

This is only my opinion but bowl games are not near as relevant as they used to be. Coaches use them to get more practice time in etc. It would be nice to have a whole compliment of players for the game but if I was being drafted, I probably would not play.
