Not sure why the skepticism? We, as fans, grow connected to the players, coaches, etc over time, especially when winning. We grew to love Antigua and Coleman when we started seeing results. When we first hired Antigua, we knew he had connections from his Kentucky days, but we also knew he had a brutal tenure as a head coach(South Florida??) that was scrutinized due to some questionable practices. Quite frankly, I never heard of the guy until he got hired here. Same with Coleman. We knew he was a Chicago guy that some of the High School coaches really liked. Never heard of the guy before that. How many Chicago kids...heck, Illinois kids are on our current roster? We were all lamenting the losses of Tilmon, Pickett, etc when Groce got fired and thought the loss of his assistants would set the program back, but obviously that wasn't the case. We, as fans, grew along with that team. It's natural to feel loss. HOWEVER, with loss comes opportunity, I don't care what the profession is. Truth be told, none of us followed his recruiting wins/losses while at K-State or V-Tech. Like Antigua and Coleman, when they first got here, Frazier and whoever the next hire is will be an unknown. They will get out ASAP, they'll do their jobs, they'll meet with all of the High School coaches, they'll meet with the players, they'll build their own relationships locally and nationally and we'll move on. BU is still the head coach, he obviously knows how to run a program and we'll all move on. The mark of a good program is when other schools want your assistants. There comes the "coaching tree". BU, over time, will have his "coaching tree", which is the mark of a good situation. The train moves on, there will still be 500 kids still transferring all over the place and we'll be fine. The people hanging on the assistant coaching hire, here's some news for you....if we're really good over the next few years, these assistants will get cherry picked as well and we'll be lamenting that situation as well. Let these guys do their jobs before you write their epitaph.
