Which list are you using? Admittedly I distanced myself as a fan over the Pace era, but Fields & Poles have me excited this offseason.

David Montgomery to the Lions. 3 years, $18 million ($11 million guaranteed).

Bears have signed Travis Homer to a 2-year, $4.5 million deal. Move is basically for depth as Herbert likely becomes a three-down back now. Homer has experience on kickoff returns and could be an asset for the Bears on special teams.

Bears also made 3 re-signings today, bringing back FB Khari Blasingame (two-year extension), long snapper Patrick Scales, and offensive lineman Dieter Eiselen.

PJ Walker has never been much of a runner.
my comment has NOTHING to do with Fields or Walker being runners or not .
its wise for teams to have backups with similar "styles" so the same offense can be run regardless of who is taking snaps

Fields deciding to run on 1/3 of all passing plays will be coming to an end at some point sooner than later.
Sure , he always has that abi;ity to do that, but he needs to learn top find the open guy like the better qbs in the league do on a regular basis or his career wont last long

Bears have signed Robert Tonyan and D'Onta Foreman to one-year deals.
Fields has an NFL-average weapons cache at the offensive skill positions now. No better than that, but maybe with a bit of upside remaining and worlds better than what he's had so far.

The defensive back seven might be borderline elite. Several blue chippers.

In a year the OL has been upgraded from "beneath any precedent in modern NFL history" to merely "generically bad", that's a big jump.

DL is still pretty much a wasteland, a little strange that wasn't more of the emphasis in free agency.

You would assume the lines will be the emphasis in the draft. Which means there are going to be some rookies in the trenches. It's gonna be a very young team with a chance to get much better and grow from there. I am I guess a little worried they haven't gotten Fields the kind of pass pro I think it will take for him to evolve as a passer. We'll see. Good for Poles putting his chips on the table.

Only 19 days until the draft. I don't have the same feeling of dread this year.
