Michigan State is an exceptionally hard job given that you are competing in state vs Michigan and Ohio State just south. I really doubt Pat Fitzgerald turns them into anything. Not that he’s a bad coach I just don’t think it can be done in an era where Michigan/Ohio State are both as strong as they are.

I don’t think it’s a good move for Pat professionally. I think NW is an easier job even with far lower expectations. I think a better situation would have been him trying to be a coordinator at the NFL level,
He's back in the coaching fraternity by landing a high D1 position. The door opened for him and he took the opportunity. All he needed was a shot and he got it. It's everything he could have hoped for professionally.

He's a phenomenal coach who had NW consistently playing high level ball and he was always doing well in the state with recruiting. If he can have success at NW, he can have it anywhere.

DId he run as tight of a ship as he should have at NW? We'll never really know. Seems like he could have handled things better. Fitz played during a time where hazing was just accepted and it came with being a tough guy on the football squad. The football players getting away with just about everything mentality goes into the High School level.

I'm more irritated with that D-Bag Kiffin pretty much submarining Ole Miss' unbelievable season by trying to hijack the coaching staff away while he signs a 9 figure contract at a program in the same conference. There are conflict of interests all over the place, yet he doesn't seem to comprehend that.

He couldn't wait until the season was over and let his players, fans and students enjoy the experience?

There's a TON wrong with college sports right now. Fitzgerald getting a second bite at the apple isn't one of them.

In hindsight Tim Beckman’s Toledo staff was loaded with Matt Campbell and Alex Golesh.
I’m surprised that Beckman vanished off the face of earth and has not been heard from in the football world since 2016. He was still in his 40s when he was let go.
