The Illini fan base has now entered what feels like the millionth week in their search for an assistant coach that slays the recruiting trail. Be sure to tune in this week for impatient snark, jabs that might strike some nerves, questions as to whether Brad Underwood is really the issue (he isn't), and, my personal favorite, gifs on gifs on gifs.

Is there anyone who has been able to follow along the past few weeks that could put together a quick list of still viable candidates for our AC opening? Would be appreciated!

I hope that this is the last iteration involving our own seemingly neverending search for an assistant. I'd like to go back to our normal coaching carousel thread where we laugh at other schools' misfortunes, please. Remember when Indiana fired Archie, but before they hired an absolute all-star team of coaching talent to replace him? Those were fun times.

It's a shame Loyalty lacks functionality for magnitude of "LIKE". This GIF sums up so much about the last month in a manner I can't imagine any other GIF capturing as succinctly. I have been laughing at it for nearly five minutes now. In terms of Loyalty attention span that's like, what, several centuries?!

Lol, you must have missed it in the OG Coaching Carousel!

Is Ricardo Greer a legit option?
Doesn't have the rep for a strong recruiter, but I think Underwood is going to have adjust his sights and hire a coach from a level down from the P5 programs that does have good contacts. It sounds like he could recruit PR and DR, as well as Florida.

Is this just message board chatter, or are they actually looking at a guy from Dayton?

He was someone mentioned on this board way back when Chin and Antigua leaving were still rumors. No clue if there’s anything substantial there.

Greer feels like a backup plan. Would be hard for me to rate his hire anything better than a B-.

We need a proven P6 recruiter. A lot of risk if Greer can't continue his upward trend.
