are you sure that’s not Fickell’s agent pushing that ?
Possibly, but leonhard went 4-3, that good enough to make him hc? Guess it wouldn’t surprise me if fickell was interested and i could see your point being true too.

Well Rhule is one of the coaches that didn;t exactly have to "rebuild" a progam that has suffered sustained losing. At both Temple and Baylor the cupboards were not "bare". There is also no guarantee that the transfer portal will lead to sustained success. look at Mel Tucker

- Temple was coming off a 4-7 season, but was 9-4 the year before that and even had a few other pretty solid seasons in the years prior under Steve Addazio and Al Golden.

- Baylor was up and running for years under Briles. Competing for Big 12 titles. The interim, Grobe, managed to take them to a bowl game the year before Rhule got there.

In other words, there were a lot of pieces in place that contributed heavily to his success (see Gene Chizk).

While he has had success, he has never had to do what will essentially be a rebuild from the ground up. So I think we should let Nebby be happy and hopeful during this holiday season, but in my humble opinion, I'm not convinced this will work out for reasons stated above.[\quote]

This isn’t true of Baylor. Everyone was given waivers to leave and pretty much everyone did. The cupboard was bare when Rhule got there.

Forgot about that waiver part for baylor. Well if Nebs is in same division/pool/pod In the new big 10 (16, possibly 15?) as Illinois I hope he doesn’t produce a quick turnaround. I’ve gotten used to beating Nebraska.

Seems like some local sources are now saying the deal is done for Fickell, but haven't seen it confirmed from the national guys yet. (either of which could be wrong, for the record)

Wow. I guess he realized Cincy’s wasn’t going to be able to get him to the championship

If Wisky shows Jim L the door that is a bold move. They are still going to a bowl game. If I was a player there I would be considering my options. Do you think you have the core pieces and need a player or two. Or are you the key piece another good team needs

The Wisconsin talk prompted me to check Big 10 coaching salaries (these may now be one year old and in need of update):

CoachSalary
Tucker$9.5
Ruhle$9.0
Day$7.6
Franklin$7.5
Harbaugh$7.3
Ferentz$7.0
Fitzgerald$5.7
Chryst$5.3
Fleck$5.0
Brohm$4.8
Allen$4.7
Bielema$4.3
Schiano$4.0
Locksley$2.5

We'd better get Bielema up at/near $6M......ahead of Fitz and just behind Ferentz.

I think Purdue, NW, Minnesota are getting pushed down the pecking order. Iowa is teetering in the waning days of the Ferentz era. I’m still unsure how things will go at Nebraska, but Wisky with Fickell and Illinois have the best two coaches in the West.

I always thought Fickell was waiting for Day to go to the NFL or fail at OSU, but maybe something has happened that made him change his mind about wanting to go back to OSU.

Don't remember seeing it here but Kenny Dillingham is the new coach at ASU. Was OC at Oregon. Only 32 years old and a Phoenix area native.
