College athletics used to homespun and have a touch of innocence. Big money, big tech, political corruption all involved now in dirtying up and giving a professional new mean-spirited approach and appearance to it all… it will never again be what I first became a dedicated fan of many years ago. Just speaking for myself.

Excessive greed ruins many a thing.

Maybe they should re-name the SEC conference. I mean it's no longer Southeastern states that belong. Why not re-name them all if there is not gonna be regional boundaries or areas of the country they represent.

If ou and texas leave for the sec and the big 12 folds, ku(basketball) and ok st(football baseball and not bad basketball) would be my first two phone calls for the big ten. Iowas st makes sense(no way campbell stays another 5+ more years imo) and but ok st has spent the money in football and relevant in basketball plus a better baseball school. Idk if we could add 2 more but those 2 would be good gets in my eyes. Aint read previous 10 posts, just throwing this out, sorry if I’ve repeated anything.

Just Gordon Gekko's thoughts on the matter. (Not mine.)

Problem I have with Kansas is that the national media will promote them as the BIG BB 🏀 school. In reality they will need the BIG more. Illinois will become even more disadvantaged when it comes to recruiting. Kansas will promote it's ties to Chicago, Indy, St Louis etc as a member of the BIG...No thank you.

Bring on Mizzou, Pittsburgh or Iowa St.

You need to update your mindset. It’s the southeast of North America, not just the US :)

I think the conference needs to be on the horn with UNC, UVA, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Florida State and Clemson. The goal is to spread outwards in high growth areas. Florida, VA, GA and the Carolinas are definitely trending up in growth.

Mizzou has tried before, but are not up to academic snuff.

If you want to be a Blue Blood, one must defeat the Blue Bloods. Often.

Right, Iowa State fits all categories EXCEPT marketability (or whatever I’m trying to say; it doesn’t add to the B1G market). Someone else said it about Pitt, too. Iowa State and Pitt are both perfect teams, but in the wrong locations. Although, Pitt is even less likely to join IMO given the fact it’s in a conference that’s not going anywhere.

The thing about Iowa State is that it checks off a lot of boxes that the B1G wants to check off when it comes to expanding and adding schools. Too many of you are thinking “teams”. That is not the play here.

Expanding the B1G market is important, but I am fairly confident that it’s not going to be tue final say by any stretch.
So you’re saying that this decision will not be based on money. Got it.

⅔ of those are hard passes. What makes you think that Carolina is ready to bolt the ACC? The only way is if the ACC is destabilized. In that case, maybe, but UNC is not coming by itself.

Just stick all the blue bloods in one conference and be done with it. Nil is going ruin college basketball anyway. Your going have the same schools overtake the ncaa brackets and same tv coverage will be directed towards the blue bloods since most employees work for espn. Most tv Announcers are from blue blood schools.

Selfishly I want the big ten to go crazy and add Kansas, Mizzou, Notre Dame, Virginia, north Carolina and Clemson. This west division would be significantly weaker than the east division but it would be a lot of fun. We would get regular games against Indiana and Mizzou again and a yearly win against Kansas. What's not to like?

West:
Kansas*
Mizzou*
Nebraska
Iowa
Minnesota
Wisconsin
Illinois
Northwestern
Purdue
Indiana*
