English Premier League 2021/22

Is the pitch at Stamford Bridge really that bad or was Tuchel just looking for an excuse for their home loss to Arsenal?

Sounds like an excuse to me, and I'm a Chelsea fan. We are really limping to the finish line. Luckily, I think we have just enough of a cushion to stay in the top 4. If there was 7 or 8 games left instead of 5, I'd be feeling much more nervous.

pochettino likely out at PSG. Zidane rumored as replacement. Conte offers himself as well; clearly not on board with Levy's transfer policy.

The bolded part is complete B.S. It is one report from a French news aggregator that has no sources.

i'm sure the first part is pure rumor but i'd bet the second part has a bit of truth to it.

Doubtful. With Fabio Paratici on board as Director of Football, the transfer decisions are going through him. They have already been told that there will be money available to spend this summer. Securing Champions League for next year will be the determination for several of the players they are targeting.

You don't spend the $$ to bring in someone with Conte's pedigree mid-season and promise him that funds will be available only to reverse course a few months later.

Watching Burnley-Watford now. Haven't been able to watch a ton of matches this season except for my Chelsea. But I am fully invested in the end of this season.

- Biggest relegation battle ever? I can't remember another team as big as Everton so close to going down.
-Top 4 race between Spurs and Arsenal.
- Liverpool vs City and Liverpool trying to complete the first ever Quadruple.

Probably the most exciting end to a season in quite a long time. Obviously the year City won it in stoppage time was crazy, but I don't remember if there was any top 4 or relegation battles at the same time. That's what I'm routing for right now. Would make for one crazy day of soccer.

And Burnley's victory today at Watford makes Everton's relegation battle even tougher. Only potential help Everton could get is that Leeds faces City, Arsenal, and Chelsea in their next 3 matches starting today.

In regards to the year City won the Premier League with the late goal, QPR needed a draw in that match to be assured of safety. It ended up not mattering that day as Bolton, who was behind QPR in the standings, only got a draw that day as well so QPR ended up staying in the Premier League anyway.

there was also a north london battle going on for 3rd. at the time, 4th place was in the playoff route to UCL while 3rd went directly to group stage. tottenham needed a win plus arsenal draw/loss but both won. and then chelsea won the UCL sending tottenham to the UEL.

Wasn't able to watch much after the first 10 minutes as I had to go out of town but it sounds like Pickford played out of his mind to help Everton get the key 3 points over Chelsea today.
Great win!! We just have to hope Richarlison doesn't get suspended for throwing the blue smoke bomb back into the crowd after he scored. COYB

With their 1:0 win today over Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth have clinched the 2nd automatic promotion spot from the EFL Championship to the Premier League for next season.

Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield Town will be the higher seeded teams for the EFL Championship playoffs, which begin next weekend. Who will join them will be decided on the final matchday this weekend. Sheffield United and Luton Town are currently in the final two playoff spots at 72 points with Middlesbrough next at 70 points and Millwall at 69 points.

Sheffield United hosts Fulham, Luton Town hosts Reading, Middlesbrough travels to Preston North End, and Millwall travels to Bournemouth.

Huddersfield and Sheffield have both been up recently...so I'll be rooting for Luton and Nottingham.

Nottingham have some good history, winning 2 European cups...but haven't been in the EPL since 2000.

Luton would be really fun to see go up IMO, simply because their stadium is extremely small. Capacity of 10,000. Brentford have the smallest capacity right now, at 17,000.

Per wiki, Nottingham hasn't been since the 1998-99 season. Luton hasn't been 1991-92.

Still don't feel entirely comfortable but feel like Everton is in a lot better spot to avoid relegation after today's 1:2 win at Leicester City.

Also had to lol them showing that the Everton fans being the only ones still in the stands at King Power Stadium roughly 15 minutes after the match ended.
