I don't ever remember Kane taking any corners. However, he has taken a few free kicks that were fairly straight on right outside the box. Normally, Eriksen or Lamela take the corners and longer free kicks from outside the box.

ah, not an englishman then. dier's free kick goal against russia was so good, i thought he would keep taking them for england.

Sturridge >>> Sterling

Not because of that goal (which the keeper probably should have stopped). Sterling has pace, pace, pace, but not much else.

Vardy really got lucky. If that ball comes off an England head, instead of the present he got from the Wales defender, he's standing 2 yards offside.

there was a lot of luck involved but there's something to be said about standing in the right place at the right time.

I was actually surprised that the refs made the correct call.

Alli has been blah. The talent is obvious, but beginning to think he's overrated.

Alli had the assist on the winning goal today. The issue is that Hodgson is an idiot and is playing his players out of their normal positions. Alli and Kane haven't had a chance to link up at all.

Maybe this will explain it a bit better:

Tottenham 4-2-3-1 with Alli right behind Kane as an attacking midfielder

Hodgson's 4-3-2-1 with Alli on the right of the central midfielders

Exactly why if he wants to continue with this formation he should switch to wilshere (who actually would work in either formation). I agree though and this is why formation is so key too to the players you have. Asking attacking mids to move the ball around a crowded midfield and to play defense is a lot different than asking them to link up play and play off the striker.

rooney playing that far back makes no sense.

5 years ago it would've made no sense. But that's what he's evolved into now. He's play that same deep role for Man United a lot this year too.

True but I feel like England has better player's for that role. However, also don't have too much of a problem with it.

Definitely agree. He's not great at it but he's not terrible either. But having a player play in his natural position instead of Rooney could definitely improve the team.

Switzerland and France both advance to the knockout stage after their 0:0 draw today. Albania defeated Romania 1-0 to get the nation's first ever Euro win. Albania still has a chance to be among those 3rd place teams that move on to the next round.

Conte and Italy were amazing today. Can't wait to see what he does at Chelsea. Hoping for a Belgium vs Italy or Belgium vs France final.

Yeah, for an Italian squad that's ostensibly down, if not way down, they smacked the champs pretty good today. Conte's obviously a very good manager, but not a Chelsea fan. Still, will be interesting to see how he molds the team and how they fare.
