This is pretty much exactly what I expected to see. I really liked that last play with Hawkins cutting to Kofi. Hopefully that was a set that we can run a few times in 2H. Would also like to see Kofi just going up with it quick off the double team a few times to see if he can draw a couple fouls and slow things down a bit.

“Comes apart” = 3 point lead on the road against a 7-1 Big Ten team.

Yes, it looks like a backup point guard against a pressing team - but it’s more or less getting it done.

You mean the 5th year seniors with over a 100 games ? Its more or less holding on for dear life

50% of our turnovers, are a result of them physically assaulting us. No call from the refs! Only reason this game is close and that is how the crooked Big10 wants it Refs to call games against the Illini!
We didn't help by missing shots and throwing the ball away.

Exactly. We need to slow down every possession and try not to turn it over despite the pressure. We are better in the half court on both ends of the floor. We had some great defensive possessions when we’ve been able to get set.
Pretty crazy that we are now a team that thrives in the half court rather than transition. I guess that's what no Ayo or AC + Kofi suddenly being able to pass out of the double team gets you.

Have to think these threes open it up a bit for Kofi. Guys are starting to see the skip pass and I love it. Jake and Hawkins need to continue to put it on the deck where appropriate and Trent needs to bring the ball up.

If Iowa is going to continue to collapse prior to Kofi getting the ball down low, then I'm content with Grandison parked in the corner.

I say spread Plummer and Grandison in corners, set a high ball screen with Kofi and Trent, and then make the defense choose.

Preparing for that to change drastically in the second half. Often does.
Now if that happens, I will then have issues with the refs. If they allow them to play physical in the first half, let them do it in the second half. That's good reffing. Now, if everything in the 2nd half is a foul, that's poor.

Just be consistent and they're doing their job.

The refs were fine. Kofi got away with some pretty "firm" baseline defense as well. Refs make and miss calls...its whatever.

The game started fine. The half ended fine. In the middle, they got out of sync and completely discombobulated on both ends.

They're doing a very poor job of feeding the post right now. Kofi is getting nothing. For one half, we're living by the three and dying by the three a bit too much. We have a clear advantage in the paint...have to get it in there.
Drive, feed to week side and then feed to Kofi breaking to ball will work all night.

I think the most frustrating (encouraging?) thing is, once again, most of our turnovers are unforced. I counted 1 moving screen and at least 2 or 3 scenarios where guys miscommunicated on cuts and threw the ball out of bounds. 1 was Trent dribbling through a double team and another was Plummer pushing 1 on 3. I think only 1 was a direct result of the press. We will be fine (more than fine!) if we can get on the same page and cut down on those. I think we’re improving, but we’re far from perfect at this juncture. Good thing is this offense is talented enough that we’re still winning.

I want to water board that bald ref until he admits his obvious anti Illinois officiating.

It's as obvious as the reflection off of his head.

Ok, let's get more extra possessions by dominating the glass and few than 5 turnovers this half!
I'd prefer Trent bringing the ball up as much as possible. Let's beat the pests!

Different take: In the middle Perkins became super hot temporarily.

That was a clear foul on Kofi but they didn't give him the call! But call it on Hawkins!
