They just said on the broadcast that a Jamaican newspaper reported this morning that if Jamaica doesn't get at least 5 points in this set of matches, then head coach Theodore Whitmore will be sacked. After tonight's match, they host Canada on Sunday and play at Honduras on Wednesday.

USA and Jamaica 0:0 at half. U.S. was fouled on two potential scoring chances with the referee, who is officiating their first World Cup qualifier, only showing the Jamaica players yellow cards.

I do agree with Taylor Twellman that it is ridiculous that there isn't VAR for these matches. They said the official reason given by CONCACAF is that, aside from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, the other nations in the octagonal don't have the infrastructure/resources to have a VAR set-up for the matches.

Other CONCACAF scores from tonight:

Jamaica 0:0 Canada
Costa Rica 2:1 El Salvador
Mexico 3:0 Honduras

Mexico is back atop the table with 11 points. U.S. and Panama are at 8 points, and Canada is at 7 points.

In addition to U.S-Costa Rica in Columbus on Wednesday, there's also Canada-Panama, Honduras-Jamaica, and El Salvador-Mexico.

Two UEFA teams have qualified for the 2022 World Cup after results in yesterday's and today's matches. Germany defeated North Macedonia 4:0 yesterday and are automatically through. Denmark will join them after the Danes defeated Austria 1:0 today. With the loss, the Austrians can now only go through the Nations League path to the playoff.

US and Costa Rica square off this evening in Columbus. Lets get that homefield W!

U.S. going with the youngest line-up in USMNT history. As a matter of perspective, tonight's goalkeeper, Zack Steffen, is the oldest USMNT player playing tonight and is younger than the youngest player for Costa Rica tonight.

Other CONCACAF scores from tonight:

Canada 4:1 Panama
Honduras 0:2 Jamaica
El Salvador 0:2 Mexico

So after tonight's matches, Mexico remains atop the table with 14 points, the U.S. has 11, and Canada has 10, making up the 3 automatic World Cup qualification spots. Panama is in 4th with 8 points and is in the inter-confederation playoff spot.

Looking ahead to next month's qualifiers, there will only be 2 matches played during that international break, the fewest of any of the groups of CONCACAF qualifier matches. For the U.S., they'll have their big rivalry match with Mexico in Cincinnati along with their first return trip in the Octagonal, traveling to Kingston to face Jamaica.

For those on here that follow soccer, what's you all's take on CONCACAF saying that they can't have VAR in the qualifiers because all the nations don't have the infrastructure to do it?

I call BS. It's a handful of cameras and video software to be able to rewind / do slow motion if necessary. If you can afford to have a national team, you can afford to purchase and install this "infrastructure".
