Giorgi Bezhanishvili leaves Illinois to pursue pro opportunities

Giorgi will continue to be an outstanding ambassador for Illini basketball. His smile, competitiveness, and positive character always gave his team mates a lift. Hope to see him return some day when former Illini are recognized and honored, so he gets a standing O from 16,000 + fans who love and appreciate him as a man and a player. Well done, GB, you have a permanent place in out hearts.

Giorgi gave everything to this program, and will live on as a great ambassador for the program! Top moments for me are his freshman scoring record performance against Rutgers, his poster dunk against Michigan, and him going toe-to-toe against OSU in the B1G tournament helping us to a historic championship.

I was thinking coming back to coach. He showed great leadership skills here and had great footwork and technique. I think, besides Antigua, he’s one of the bigger influences to Kofi’s success. He will have a lot to offer after that pro career.
Buy his mom a condo in Champaign and keep him as a grad assistant...he is one of the few Illini legends who prob won't have an NBA contract ( although if I'm an NBA GM I'm signing him ..his personality tips scales)

He has been the epitome of a team player. Great enthusiasm and leadership on and off the floor. I would love to have one or two like him every year, he will be missed.
