My first game was the pre-season Illini v Alumni scrimmage which featured newcomer Tony Eason vs Dave Wilson at QB. You can imagine how spoiled that made me as a fan. I did go to basketball games too (I think George Montgomery was my first favorite hoops player) but that experience was nothing compared to football. CU was wild on football Saturdays in '82 and '83. I am one of the few who cares less about basketball and lives only to see Illinois Football become great again. My earliest childhood memories of Illini sports were at Memorial Stadium, 1981-1983. I did go to basketball games too (I think George Montgomery was my first favorite hoops player) but that experience was nothing compared to football. CU was wild on football Saturdays in '82 and '83.
